What this really is, is the realization that scholarship which acted as the underpinnings of the Zionist world view has lost the ideological war, because it has been proved to be so full of shit, and bias, and manipulation of the actual historical record that it simply can not stand up in an academic institution without people laughing there asses off. Now because they have lost the UJA and its allies are trying to force the Universities from spreading the news through intimidation, innuendo and slander.
What is happening is that misguided youth who have been forced fed Zionist propaganda by their parents are now being put in a position where the bullshit they were taught is actually analyzed from the point of view of a scholastic study of the evidence, and they are upset that their cherished views of Israel and Zionism, are filled with lies and deciet, and they are upset because they are having to fact their own self-doubt. Rather than recognizing this doubt and dealing with it, and the information that causes it, they prefer ignorance.
Even real Zionist scholars like Benny Morris, now freely admit that the 1948 "war of independence" was really and "ethnic cleansing". But most of the old guard Zionists still want their children to be taught that the Arabs left of their own accord.
You are right. York should sue the UJA, but they wont.
A more effective strategy is to ridicule what the UJA is saying and for York to be as dismissive as possible. The UJA would probably relish being taken to court and playing the victim card - but you can never recover from being viewed as an object of ridicule.
"What is happening is that misguided youth who have been forced fed Zionist propaganda by their parents..."
Where are these so-called mis-guided youth? Have you done a scientific study of them and can you tell us exactly what the prevalence of this "phenomenon" is or are you just making up your usual garbage. Of course if anyone else said in a posting that "What is happening is that misguided youth who have been forced fed Islamist propaganda by their parents..." you'd be the first one to start shrieking "racist" at them. I won't do that thogh because i don't think you're a racist at all - just misguided.
I didn't want to quote an entire post in order to say that for the most part I agree, insofar as you appear to be referring specifically to certain relevant social sciences. At the same time, mind you, it's hard to see why a professor teaching a Hegel course would really need to inform the class of his/her opinions about the Middle East.

Bullshit. Go read a book called "Hegel, Heidegger and the Age of Mass Slaughter". You really have no idea what you are talking about. Philosophers have every reason, and indeed the right to try and show how their particular philosophical views relate to modern day politics. Read Zygmund Bauman, "Modernity and the Holocaust", its about everything from Hegel, to the Holocaust (he is against it) and the Zionist expropriation of land from the Palestinians (he is against it). All kind of philosophical conclusions have been drawn from the lesson of the Holocaust, and by extension, also the disenfranchisement of the Palestinian Arabs.
Marx said, famously, "up until now philosphers have tried to discern the nature of the world, the point is to change it," are you saying that such an idea should be banned in philosophy, and philosophy professors should content themselves with Witgenstein's logic games, seperate from reality, politics and the world?
Whether you agree or not, should not a philosphy professor have the right to disagree with you about whether or not their philosophical outlook relates to the middle east?
Why are we going around in circles on this thread - it seems to me that everyone without exception agrees that the UJA are idiots to propose this and that professors and students should not be muzzled from expressing opinions on political issues in a university. We all agree - so what more is there to discuss???
No one has tried to defend the UJA's position its all "I disagree with the UJA" followed by "I really, really, really disagree with the UJA". How many different ways can people find to say "WE DISAGREE WITH THE UJA!
Many ways. They are exhibited above. I didn't realize the object of this board was to decide whether or not we agree with each other or not. I thought it was a discussion board. Not all discussion need be disagreements.
Well that is the whole thing isn't it, UJA should have kept their submissions silent instead of flapping their lips trying to influence things prior to the report.
Again, as I said above, this whole thing started in response to anti-Muslim activity on campus a few months back.

LOL, more than a few of those misguided post here stock!
Keep throwing up those spurious examples snert when there is no evidfence of any such thing in order to deflect.

Absolutely correct cue!
Yet another good reason for the dissolution of the state of Zionist colonial settlement in Palestine.

The UJA press release that says the opposite.

I can\t wait for the York U report to be released. They created this entire mess and have created a puppet group to release a report
Who cares what UJA or anyone else wants. What will York say they want to do.
Well that is the whole thing isn't it, UJA should have kept their submissions silent instead of flapping their lips trying to influence things prior to the report.

Closing for length.
