Why not run in the Papineau riding again, like he did in 2000?
Maybe he doesn't live there anymore. Maybe you should use common sense before posting?
It was just a question. And it was kind of meant to be a partial joke. I don't think he would want to run against Trudeau because he would probably lose.
But as to residency, he may just have been a name on a ballot and not have lived in the riding at the time, or maybe he doesn't currently live in St. Jean either.
Why not find out yourself before being critical?
It is true, obvious and normal that many people do not want to run against a party leader. But you framed it into a question to manipulate a response -- how is that not baiting?
We don't have to overanalyze ever post & intereaction here. I wasn't really 'baiting' anything. I was asking a question I was genuinely curious about (why a candidate had switched ridings) with a little humour mixed in. Would it have helped if I put a winking emoticon?
Can there be no attempt at some humour here to lighten up the intensity?
And I regularly see taunting, nasty, 'baiting' posts here by certaiin partisans that seemed to design to provoke a response. Look at what North Report has been posting since his return here this week.
But Debater you asked a question for which you had the answer and did it to amuse while you trapped someone into saying they would lose against the leader of a party.
I agree others do it too but this is a classic example - a little passive aggressive. Sure wasn't designed to make people laugh, think or give them warm fuzzies but to trap.
That was my point.
Debater Mr. Marotte is running in Saint-Jean because he lives in SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU,QC also in 2000 he ran for Papineau where he was living at the time in montreal. And if i where you wouldn't look at his past candidacy as a determination of his future in politics. He has become very well known since then and he leads a large Québec Movement that has made him very popular in Québec. This is a true star candidate for the NDP if he can win the parties nomination

FYI, Marco Tejada the activist in the Dominican community in Montreal who ran against Justin Trudeau in Papineau for the NDP 2011 and got 12,000 votes - wants to run again against Trudeau.
Any word on whether or not Linda McQuaig will run again in reconfigured Toronto-Centre?
ctrl190 riding of Toronto Centre has been left open for Linda McQuaig if she want's to run again, Because Jennifer Hollett has already announced that she plans to seek the ndp nomination in Spadina–Fort York.

Ruth Ellen Brosseau is now the NDP's OFFICIAL candidate for the Riding of Berthier–Maskinongé for the 2015 General Election. Remember Madame Brosseau was known in the media as the MP for Vegas who couldn't speak much french. Well she has shown her political skills by turn around the opinion of her. She is now known as a very popular strong constituency MP who is hard working and effective. She is seen as the rising political star of the Mauricie by the press. Because of her hard work she has been made Deputy Critic for Agriculture, Vice Chair of the AGRI committee and Vice chair of the NDP parliamentry caucus. Link Posted Below

hello benhart, have you heard anything about the NDP candidate for the Yukon?
does anyone think if Olivia Chow loses the mayoral election that she would run federally again?
don't get me wrong I want her to win.
The optics of it being an opportunistic move would certainly hurt her should this come to pass.
I suspect you're right Ari. Also she lost an opportunity in the federal byelections to at least have a presence with ndp colleagues, even if she didn't outright declare.

Joe Byrne was just nominated as the NDP candidate in Charlottetown.
Very white 28/30 and very male 22/30 by rough count -- hope the next batch are more representative
Benhart I love the work you've put into this, it's awesome. I just have two things: I think Fin Donnelly is the candidate in Port Moody - Coquitlam, not Coquitlam - Port Coquitlam. That's the riding that Sara Norman just announced she'll try to get nominated in, to take on James Moore. Also, you can probably add Thomas Mulcair to the list, but I guess if this is just for nominated candidates he can wait, haha.

Pierre Ducasse the architect of the NDP sherbrooke declaration and former Quebec Lieutenant to the late Jack Layton. Will once again seek the NDP nomination in the riding of Manicouagan. This is strange because this riding is already held by NDP MP Jonathan Genest-Jourdain who is 1 of 2 aboriginal NDP MP's. Mr.Ducasse who had run for the NDP multiple time in this riding decided not to run in 2011 and to challenge the nomination after the party has already won and Mr.Genest-Jourdain had to lay the roots is in my opinion simply wrong.
