Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act

Passage of this bill (or something like it) is long overdue...although it would merely be a good start.

Stay tuned...

Shit. One of the best things about Cuba is that there are no Americans stinking up the place.

Nice generalization.  I can't imagine making a similar generalized comment about Canadians (or about people from any other country, for that matter).  But, I suppose people like me should refrain from vacationing in Canada (which I like to do) because we "stink up the place"?

Finally! Every American should enjoy the personal freedom to travel to Cuba. I wonder what restrictions will continue to be upheld

On this issue, I totally agree with you.

Hopefully, few, if any.

I can. Canadian travellers are sactimonious, boorish loudmouths. Especially when drunk. So I've been told, especially when I'm drunk.

Hoodeet

Some German and Spanish tourists act pretty disgusting too.

Anyway, the influx of US tourists is less worrisome than the swamping of Cuba by US political and financial animals, who can't wait to gobble it up.

No.  They are not.

Cubans dont want US gobblers, just tourists spending money.

Fidel, I'm curious: How frequently have you traveled to Cuba?  I would definitely like to visit there sometime.

I was in Mexico a couple of months ago.  There were a couple of guys at our resort whose behaviour caused me to assume were yanquis.

It turned out they were from Fort Mac (although is anyone really from Fort Mac?).

I've been twice, and the last time in 2001. It's a beautiful island. I havent done it in a few years, but I like snorkelling and diving, and Cuba has some excellent dive sites. Lots to do in Cuba and historical sites to see for sure. Gotta watch those coco taxi drivers in Havana. Sometimes theyll drop you off across the street instead of curbside destination. tsk tsk

As if hordes of American tourists haven't already visited Cuba.  It isn't hard, just go through a third country coming and going and lie about your itinerary when you return to the US.

Fidel

Lots of Americans are afraid of their government and its rules against visiting Cuba and spending money there. When Uncle Sam puts the heavy on small and defenseless countries, he means business

If they fly to Cuba from Canada, they will pass through US air space, and their names will be sent by the airline to the US security goons for clearance before their plane is allowed to take off.

Fidel

I never saw any Americans in Cuba when I was there. Mostly Canadian and European tourists.

As of this year, Sunwing flies direct to Cuba from Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario.

Yes - but have you been around those Cuban tourists? Talk about loudmouthed! All they want to talk about are their death-defying attempts to escape communism!

Delta adding route to Haiti,  "the freest trading nation in the Caribbean" Who do we know that's ever been to the US client state of Haiti just 55 miles from Cuba, and recommended a return trip?
