Attack on Libya Disrupted Major CIA Operation  -  by Bill Van Auken

"The September 11 attack that claimed the life of the US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans disrupted a major CIA operation in the North African country. 'It's a catastrophic intelligence loss,' a US official who had been stationed in Libya told the Times. 'We got our eyes poked out'..."

notice how they're not talking about this very significant assassination very much....

Gaddafi's Killer Dies

"Omran Shaaban, a young man who killed Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi, died of injuries after being kidnapped, beaten and slashed by unknown men. Kidnappers abducted Shaaban in July near the Gaddafi stronghold of Bani Walid before he could collect his 1-million-dollar reward for murdering Gaddafi from the chair of the Libyan National Congress, Mustafa Abdul Jalil.."

US Fully Abandons Benghazi

"The United States has all but abandoned their intelligence gathering mission on the ground in Benghazi, removing all US officials from the Libyan city where Ambassador Chris Stevens was executed three weeks earlier..."

I'm not sure how slowly mutilating and torturing someone to death over two months qualifies as resistance. It is just bloody revenge and terror, and there is nothing about it that will change anything for the better.

I don't disagree with you.

US Prepares To Strike Libya Militants Suspected in Benghazi Attack

"The US military and intelligence agencies are preparing to capture and kill militants involved in the attack on the US consulate in Libya, despite the Libyan government's demand that no foreigners fight on their country's land. The top-secret Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) is currently getting information on the attack that killed a US ambassador and three other Americans.."

'No Food, No Drugs': Libyan Troops Siege Ex-Gaddafi Stronghold

"Armed Libyan forces continue to surround the city of Bani Walid in Libya. As tension between government troops and opposition supporters continues to mount, residents have been left without food and other supplies and are calling on the UN for help..."

I see little liklihood of any help forthcoming from that quarter. Or any other. Westerners are now well practiced at wilful blindness to such unpleasantness - especially our pols..

French Government Accused of Ordering Libyan Leader Gaddafi's Assassination  -  by Antoine Leraugelel

"French foreign agents directly assassinated Gaddafi. He said this was because of Gaddafi's threats, shortly before France launched the war on Libya with NATO backing, to reveal secret donations he had made to Sarkozy in 2007 to finance Sarkozy's presidential election campaign.."

Gaddafi's Regime Looks Like A Beacon of Light Compared to Current Gov't (and vid)

"This is the west going in directly or through its proxies or through its gulf-state petro monarchies in order to impose a western friendly regime in that country that they can impose a western-friendly regime in that country that they can go and colonize in a financial way. Politically we're talking about private banking and public private initiatives and selling off the assets of the country for pennies on the dollar to western countries. That's what the plan was for Libya..."

US Speeds Up Elite Force Creation in Libya After Ambassador's Death

"The US is shifting $8 million away from counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan and into Libya to speed up the creation of an elite force to fight Islamic extremism. The idea is to improve 'Libya's ability to combat and defend  against threats from Al-Qaeda and its affiliates', stated an unclassified internal State Department memo, as the US continues to worry about the government transition period in Libya..."

Harper has also announced millions in 'humanitarian' aid, as he conducted discussions at the Francophonie with France's Hollande on security problems and Islamic extremism in Mali and the Sahel. Watch for more the West to continue their imperial war-making, probably by proxy, in the region..

The Apotheosis of St Christopher of Libya

"In an effort to not to seethe further at the absurdity of US hagiography, with all of the execrable conceit of State Department spokespersons who construct hierarchies of good and bad humans which translates into an ordering of those who deserve to live and those who deserve to die, and their unlimited ability to project their own sins into the fantasies of the other, I thought: why not help the US State Department improve on the deification of its belligerent agents?

Great picture in that well written piece. Thx NDPP

Dead US Ambassador Documented Creation of Banghazi Terror Emirate  -  by Tony Cartalucci

"...While all of this is depicted by the Western media as a recent revelation made only after the death of Ambassador Stevens, journalists around the world had documented and warned of the danger of arming 'pro-democracy protesters' who are clearly militant extremists, actively carrying out terrorism for at least three decades in Cyrenaica (eastern Libya) region.

These warnings came just as NATO bombs began to fall on Libya in 2011, and were reiterated many times before the bombing concluded. Warning signs were covered up, not ignored. US, NATO and the 'international community' willfully repeats this 'mistake' in Syria.

The West, though its demonstrable actions have forfeited its self-proclaimed authority to intervene beyond its borders, based on 'international law' it wilfully, openly, violates, selectively enforces, and otherwise manipulates to achieve its extraterritorial ambitions - and must be excluded entirely from any solutions implemented to resolve the violence unfolding in Syria."

"...the daily shelling of the town is the Misrata militia's attempt to eliminate it. 'Misraata's militia's out to eliminate us. The situation in Bani-Walid is horrible.."

So Bani-Walid is being given the 'Stalingrad' treatment by the same NATO RAT AQ militias Canada helped into power. Few here notice let alone care.

Siege of Bani Walid Highlights Libya Resistance

"...As a pretext for the offensive, the Libyan government used the death of rebel fighter Omran Shaban, who had allegedly been captured and killed in the town. Shaban had been credited with capturing former leader Muammar Gaddafi. Bani Walid is home to the Warfallah tribe, Libya's largest tribe comprising about 1 million people, or one-sixth of Libya's population.

Libya's Nightmare Winter  -  by Murray Dobbin

"....The dominant image of Canada's shameful involvement (cost: $100 million) is thus likely to be Stephen Harper's boasting about Canada's 'punching above its weight' as if the trashing of international law and brutal regime change in the interests of international bankers was a sporting event."

Destroying Libya and World Order  -  by Dr Francis Boyle

"Deploying standard criteria of international law, Boyle analyzes and debunks the UN R2P 'responsibility to protect' doctrine and its immediate predecessor, 'humanitarian intervention'. He addresses how R2P served as the basis for the NATO assault on Libya in 2011, overriding the UN Charter commitment to state sovereignty and prevention of aggression.

The purported NATO protection in actuality led to 50,000 Libyan casualties and the complete breakdown of law and order. And this is just the beginning. Boyle lays out the ramifications: the destabilization of the Maghreb and Sahel, and the French intervention in Mali - with the UN/NATO/Europe/ starting a new scramble for the natural resources of Africa

'They'll Want Their Questions Answered: Ontario-Based Bodyguard in Saadi Gaddafi Smuggling Plot Deported

So the security guard is deemed guilty of 'crimes against humanity' and Canada's NATO General in charge, Lt-Gen Charles 'The Butcher' Bouchard, enjoys a comfortable and honoured retirement. Yet another outrage against any semblance of true justice. Canadians do not seem unduly bothered by living in/with such infamy and Canadian participation in a new nazi order of things..

The Cult of Killing and the Symbolic Order of Western Barbarism: The Lynching of Mouamar Gaddafi

"The display of the lynching of Mouamar Gaddafi exposes our societies for what they are. It mesmerizes and dismantles our capacity to think and critically assess a historical process. By focusing public attention on what constitutes a 'ritualized atrocity' these gruesome images confirm that the US Empire actually represents an unprecedented regression, a step backwards in the history of humanity.

They show that the objective of the war on Libya was not only conquest, leading to the plundering of oil or of Libyan assets, but also, just as was the case in the Crusades, the destruction of a symbolic order, leaving room for the sheer enjoyment of an act of killing, as displayed by the media, in a capitalist World Order run amok..."

Benghazi Clashes Kill 6 Soldiers Amid Warnings of Imminent 'Bloodbath'

Libya Special Forces fought with armed protesters in Benghazi in clashes that killed six soldiers, officials report. The flashpoint city has been hit by a wave of bloody protests recently, demanding the disbandment of militia groups.

Libya's interim government has failed to bring the country's many militia groups to heel over the last two years following the removal of Gaddafi. The militia groups are often heavily armed and enforce their authority in the rural communities where they have entrenched themselves."

Welcome to the West's Syrian solution...

'Chaos Caused by Libya War Delays Syria Action'

"Asked by the Post what she sees as the future for the country, she said the government remains weak with little experience, and it needs external aid to function and to establish a security force that could exert control over its territory and break down the various armed militias...

The results of the war have made many Western governments scared of intervening in Syria."

In Libya and Beyond, Intervention's Just the Start   -  by Bob Rae

"..It is a simple lesson, yet to be learned: We need to deal with the consequences of military intervention with the same focus, determination and resources we have given to the destruction of bad actors. We can't leave the job less than half-done.

The UN and those who decided Col Gadhafi had to go still have work to do.

The cameras may have left, but the task remains."

Libya - Two Years, Three States, Two Civil Wars?

"The nation formerly known as Libya has split itself into three: the emirates of Fezza, Cyrenaica and Tripolitania...

The NATO intervention was an unmitigated disaster."

Congratulations Canucklheads, Canada did more than its share of the 'heavy lifting' to make this happen.

Evil criminal deeds virtually unopposed..

The US has been making the same, mistake over and over again for two hundred years. When will they learn that democracy is something that people build together not something a conquering army hands out. This exact same reasoning was presented in Congress prior to the invasion of British North America. All our Canadian fore bearers were supposed to greet the US troops as liberators. If we didn't have the Empire guarding our back we would have fallen to Manifest Destiny two hundred years ago.

The NATO intervention in Libya was an unmitigated disaster.

At the outset, Washington policymakers believed that the people would rise up en masse against Gaddhafi, and embrace the new "democratic" government which was installed in the aftermath of his execution. This didn’t happen.

Washington's Puppet Regime in Libya Teeters on the Brink   -  by Jean Shaoul

"...Zeidan's warning presages a possible return of NATO forces to Libya. The accelerating collapse of Zeidan's puppet regime refutes any attempt by the Obama administration to depict the 2011 war for regime change in Libya as progressive.

The war was neither a revolution, nor a struggle for democracy, but a bloody, imperialist adventure in which the US, Britiain, [CANADA] and France, allied with right wing tribal leaders, criminals and Islamist thugs in order to topple the Gaddafi regime..."

Libya and Responsibility To Protect  -  by Murray Dobbin

"One of the darkest and most shameful chapters in Western military intervention continues to play out in spades in Libya. But we hear nothing from the international choir, led here by Lloyd Axworthy, which sung the 'responsibility to protect' (R2P) hymn at the top of their lungs two years ago..."

as did several here

I increasingly doubt if the R2Pers like Axworthy, Project Ploughshares, Peace Magazine (Metta Spencer) and many on the “Left” (not Murray Dobbin or Canadian Dimensions) are having many second thoughts about Libya.  The present chaos there is just a step on the road to “democracy”.  Like good Christians we had to “do something”.  Anything is better than Khadafi.  Now good R2Pers are saying that the world (the international community) failed to intervene in Syria (like Rwanda)   We turned our backs (which we didn’t do in Libya). Africa will be (like the 19th century) the White Man’s burden for the 21st Century.  The ICC (an End to Impunity) is ready. And the generous US Military aid projects.
