"Within hours of Norway’s deadly bomb and gun attacks claiming at least 91 victims it has become clear that the horror was perpetrated by a Norwegian loner with rightwing Christian fundamentalist affiliations.
"Yet President Barack Obama reacted immediately to the news of the atrocity to insinuate an Islamic connection and to justify America’s war on terror.
"Obama [and Key] spoke on Friday while hosting New Zealand Prime Minister John Key in the White House.
- end quotes -
Obama knew better - he had been briefed by intelligence officials before he spoke - but he went ahead and said "international terrorism" anyhow.
NZ PM Key did insert an "if", but nonetheless uttered the words "an act of global terrorism" and added his support for the Afghan war [and Pentagon budget demands] by saying the Norway attacks are a good example of "why New Zealand plays its part in Afghanistan as we try and join others like the United States in making the world a safer place,”
Ahh. So if the leaders of the free world intend to "stop this sort of thing", referring to the Norway attacks, which they knew were done by an Islamophobic, it would mean reigning in all those christian fundamentalists who have anything against Islamic immigrantion into otherwise white western nations.
The Tea Party members might be a good start - round them up, stuff them into a crowded shanty town on a Cuban island and torture them for information that does not exist about phoney terrorist threats - and then go after American Republicans.
While they are at it, round up people who foment hatred towards certain cultures such as Islamists, as Obama and Key did.
ETC - it is apparent that a negative attitude towards any SPECIFIC religion is a dangerous thing. Breivik is one of many examples of that. Almost allways, they belong to a different religion, and as far as I can tell, they are NEVER atheists.
Atheists are okay, they never attack any specific religion and they have never been violent towards religious people in general as far as I know. No Atheist has ever blown up a building and claimed the attack "in the name of Atheism".
BUT!! - we can be trouble makers:
I propose, in the name of Atheism:
Religion, and the migration of people who are "obviously religious", are potential sources of violence. Whether it is fair or not, the fact is that much violence follows and is perpetrated by religious people. Therefore, we should, in Canada, endevour to limit immigration of Christians, Islamics, Jews, Cultists, Witches and Zombies, on the basis of keeping the peace.
