Very interesting. And they thought Houellebecq's Submission was bad.

Republicans are paying for their bill in large part by cutting the Medicaid program and changing it from an open-ended entitlement program to a capped benefit — states will get a set amount of money, tied to the number of enrollees, to cover the cost of the program.

Capito Mooney and Jenkins Flee McKinley Doesn’t Show Manchin Dives In and Diverts

It was one of those lobbyist affairs buried in the swamp — in this case, Dirksen Senate Office Building Room G-50 — at a party held by the West Virginia State Society and sponsored by the likes of FirstEnergy, Merrill Lynch and United Bank.

According to a press release from the West Virginia State Society, the entire West Virginia Congressional delegation – Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, along with the three members of the House from West Virginia — David McKinley, Alex Mooney and Evan Jenkins — “will offer remarks and spend the evening mingling with West Virginians and friends from around the DC-area.”

That’s right — friends from the DC area.

Not friends from West Virginia.

But word got out and more than forty town hall deprived friends from West Virginia made the trip into the swamp to mingle with the swamp dwellers.

“Our elected representatives have refused to hold town hall meetings in West Virginia,” said organizer Tracy Cannon. “So we are now forced to travel to Washington DC to meet with them. “We are eager to mingle with our elected members of Congress and discuss with them their votes that threaten our precious waterways, our health, and our livelihoods.”....

The meaning of quotation marks:

Spicer says

Spicer says quotation marks justify Trump's unverified wiretapping claims.

The White House was forced on to the back foot again on Monday over Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that he was wiretapped by Barack Obama, basing its latest argument on the US president’s use of quotation marks in a tweet.

In a shift of position, Spicer then conceded: “The president used the word ‘wiretapped’ in quotes to mean broadly surveillance and other activities during that. It is interesting how many news outlets reported that this activity was taking place during the 2016 election cycle and now are wondering where the proof is. It is many of the same outlets in this room that talked about the activities that were going on back then.”

Jeez, it took Clinton a few years to get into an argument about what "it" meant. Less than three months and Trump is arguing about quotation marks.

Another setback for the Trump administration

The Republicans' real target is not "Obamacare," but Medicaid.

A Who's Who of the Trump Campaign's Russia Connections

More goodness from jimmy dore.  Just watch the first 4 minutes and then decided if the russia spin has any room to run.

Watch the clip of the interview with james clapper, the NSA head that left his position in early 2017(his last day was jan 20, 2017).  If clapper is correct where is this hoopla of russian smearing come from?  He says flat out we got nothing(jan 20 I assume from his comments), till I left the NSA maybe we something now.  Where is the russia stuff coming from?  What is the agenda for the russia craziness.  Is the utlimate goal to get rid Trump?

Maybe in the future they will find a smoking gun, clapper says they got nothing at this point(jan 20).  The MSM is betting their creditabily(whats left it), after this fishing expedition they better find something or they look like a pack of fools.

The UK was in on the 'tapping'.

UK spy agency helped wiretap Trump

In a highly unusual move, GCHQ has denied an allegation repeated by the White House press secretary on Thursday that the British spy agency had helped former president Barack Obama “wiretap” Donald Trump during the 2016 election.

“Recent allegations made by media commentator judge Andrew Napolitano about GCHQ being asked to conduct ‘wiretapping’ against the then president-elect are nonsense,” a GCHQ spokesperson said in a statement. “They are utterly ridiculous and should be ignored.”

...Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, quoted Napolitano’s allegation in an effort to validate Trump’s unfounded claim that Obama wiretapped his phones last year.

As an old friend of mine told me, it's very hard to get through to a paranoic because you just become part of their conspiracy fantasy.

As a side issue, I wonder how long Spicer is going to last. Having to get out there and defend the insanity in the White House has to be wearing. On the other hand, most normal people would already have screamed and ran. The fact that he's still hanging on is a testament to a superior level of intestinal fortitude.

And some more ridiculous from the White House:

Appearing with Irish prime minister Enda Kenny on Thursday, Trump said: “As we stand together with our Irish friends, I’m reminded of that proverb – and this is a good one, this is one I like. I’ve heard it for many many years and I love it.

“Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue, but never forget to remember those that have stuck by you.”

He added: “A lot of us know that, we know it well. It’s a great phrase.”

...Irish tweeters were quick to point out they’d never heard this supposedly famous proverb.

...So how exactly did a poem, whose author we know nothing about, end up being quoted by the president of the United States as an Irish proverb?

Cody Keenan, a speechwriter for Obama, may have hit on the most likely theory: They google "famous Irish proverbs" and pick one from a Geocities page.

And indeed, when you google “famous Irish proverb” the poem is included in the top two sites.

Someone should give Trump "Finnegan's Wake" to read. It might be the only book he actually understands...

Steve Bannon has a French sweetheart, and it’s not Marine Le Pen, the nationalist-populist politician who could become the country’s president in this spring’s election. According to media reports in France, the White House chief strategist recently expressed his admiration for the far-right intellectual Charles Maurras, a notorious anti-Semite sentenced to life in prison after World War II.

In 4 years we won't recognize this place. I'm no fan of Trump nor the right-wing but when they get power they move immediately to implement their agenda, and I respect them for that, as opposed to the useless left's we have to study it approach

I just watched the late edition of CNN Smerconish, there are no transcirpts yet he is the interview.

They had General Hayden fromer cia head on tv.  He went through the path of trump could or assoicates of trump could have been part wire tapping in the trump towers.   He was very careful in his wording (if and buts) but if trump assicoates were recorded this how it would happen.

Then have this on Smerconish as well.  They have person who still writes for the Washington Post saying that the Dems went overboard on the russia connection.  Washington Post was not a friendly to trump to say the least.  This person will be a cnn employee.  Watch at 4:30 in the video people are start say slow down about their about Russian and Trump collusion talk.

For goodness sakes.

Taking a look at the people Trump has surrounded himself with should be enough to convince folks that nothing this President says or does is going to benefit the vast majority of USA citizens.

It's bad enough with Trump's doing it.

Please, let's at least in Canada, not jump on the Trump Fake News bandwagon nonsense.

Mispresenting facts?  Or twisting facts.  I willing to take my lumps NR.   Is there something specefic in my post that is not factual correct?  Or did draw a conclusion that is not supported by the facts presented.

The Kagans Are Back : Wars To Follow

"...As time goes by more and more obstacles are being placed in the path of cooperation by the NATO/Foreign Policy/ Intelligence establishment. In my opinion, Trump's choice for the new US ambassador to Moscow, the ex-governor of Utah, John Huntsman, who has been a vocal critic of Putin as well as the chairman of NATO's chief think-tank the Atlantic Council, definitely does not obtain the relaxation of tensions between Washington and Moscow.

We lost a war: Russia’s interference in our election was much more than simple mischief-making

Comey publically confirms that the FBI is investigating Russian interference in the election campaign and any contacts with the Trump campaign.  Can't comment further.

in context what does this mean? i thought it was an investigation into Obama wiring tapping Trump?

No, it's an investigation that's been going on since July.  He dismissed Trump's Obama wiretap allegation for the nonsense it is.

Chris Hedges - EP 78 (podcast)

"This week Eric sits down with author and journalist Chris Hedges to discuss Trump, the Democrats, resistance and more. The second half of the discussion examines the attempt by Democrats to coopt and commodify the resistance."

Slice it any way you wish but Trump is having a horrible, no good, very bad day.

Big win for Dems, and not even the no evidence of wiretap thing.  Comey saying that the cullsion investagation is on going and a stopping at that means this a gift from heaven for the Dems.  The Dems can simply speculate on the results of the investagation all day long.  From simple truths, and lies to grand constriesty theories, its wide open now because comey set no border lines to what is possible to conclude as off today.  There are limits of cousre(reality can only bent so far) but until this investigation is concluded trump is at big disadvange in the court of the public.  This is politics, par for the course but the actual dangerous part is reorientment of forgien policy.

There may be clash between US and Russia, Trump ever since this russia stuff came out has been moving away from Putin/Russia to signal that he is his man and not puppet of russia.  I fear with the pressure the Dems will apply with fact free thories of connections between and trump change relations bewteen russia and us.  The more pressure the Dems put on the trump further trump have to move away from russia.  He can not be seen as pawn of russia, world has become a less safe place as a today. Those that want to "punish" russia have been given a gaint gift.

So much for relaxing sanctions on Russia now.

RT did not cover the Congressional hearings today. Strange that!

FBI Director Comey confirms probe of possible coordination between Kremlin and Trump campaign

Let us not forget the Repulican Party is more of an enemy of Russia than the Democrats are. It is the Republicans who have the majority in the House and the Senate. It is the Republicans who are pushing Trump to abandon his laissez-faire attitude towards Russia.

Of course, Trump didn't do himself any favours when he suggested he would welcome the Russians hacking the Democratic Party emails during the election. Like most of his utterances, it was off the top of his more or less empty head, but it's not something people forget in a hurry.

At this point the rep have a reason to defend trump, they have house, sentae, and trump.  Without trump they lose that situation, they will tolerate trump putinism for the sake of holding the levers of power.  The Dems have signaled that they are going after the mucharidan candiate idea, Reps have signaled they are going are leakers.  If something cames up then and putin is descredited that will be a bonus but the main focus the leakers.

This is my thought on the Reps, they want a trump they will control.  They will prop him up and shield him from alot heat.  The Rep goal is weakening trump and make him realize that he dependent on them to stay in power.  If they push to hard he could become a lame duck president, they want someone will take orders from them in the white house.  They realize that they have the power to transform the US to a very different place.  The power of the congress, senate, presdiency, and a potentail to name 3 to 4 supreme judges.  As long they cooperate and not fight each other they have the power and incentive to prop up trump.

A modern version of the Russian Woodpecker appears to be alive and well, eh!

The Trump-Russia Story Has Only Just Begun (To Explode)

Not since Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal has an investigative hearing made it so clear that a presidency was in serious legal peril.

Let’s step back for a minute and consider again what we saw Monday in a hearing room of the U.S. House.

The director of the FBI, with the director of the National Security Agency agreeing at his side, in effect called the president of the United States a liar ― and, oh, by the way, the president’s 2016 campaign indeed is under investigation for allegedly having secretly teamed up with Russia to win the election.

After two months of Donald J. Trump’s presidency and more than a year of his campaign, our political senses are so dulled by tumult that we can barely recognize history when we see it. Make no mistake. Monday’s hearing was all but unprecedented.

Not since a White House aide named Alexander Butterfield told the Watergate committee in 1973 that President Richard Nixon had bugged his own Oval Office has an investigative hearing made it so clear that a presidency was in serious legal jeopardy.

Now we know for sure that, while no one “tapped” Trump’s phones, his campaign circle is in the gunsights of the FBI. The issue is whether Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose interference in the 2016 election is now an accepted fact, tried to rig the outcome with the knowledge or collusion of Team Trump.
