Pepe Escobar's story of the Bandar Putin pipeline chat and the threat that Bandar's boys can wreck the Olympics is well known by now, especially the part where Putin told him to get lost.  (see NDPP's link, Sept 4, it's a great and passionate statement)

Here's an example where Blair didn't.

BAE: secret papers reveal threats from Saudi prince

Spectre of 'another 7/7' led Tony Blair to block bribes inquiry, high court told

"Previously secret files describe how investigators were told they faced "another 7/7" and the loss of "British lives on British streets" if they pressed on with their inquiries and the Saudis carried out their threat to cut off intelligence.

Prince Bandar, the head of the Saudi national security council, and son of the crown prince, was alleged in court to be the man behind the threats to hold back information about suicide bombers and terrorists. He faces accusations that he himself took more than £1bn in secret payments from the arms company BAE.

He was accused in yesterday's high court hearings of flying to London in December 2006 and uttering threats which made the prime minister, Tony Blair, force an end to the Serious Fraud Office investigation into bribery allegations involving Bandar and his family.

The threats halted the fraud inquiry, but triggered an international outcry, with allegations that Britain had broken international anti-bribery treaties."

Harper's Love Affair With Monarchy  -  by Yves Engler

"As it contributes to instability in Syria, Jordan is also a victim of the conflict. At least 600,000 Syrian refugees have crossed into the country of 6.3 million people. This has added to the pressure on a Jordanian monarchy that's faced a series of pro-democracy protests over the past two years.

Additionally, the US military's presence in the country is not popular.

Worried about the Jordanian monarchy's ability to survive this volatile political climate, Canada has worked to bolster the regime. Under the guise of helping Syrian refugees, Ottawa (alongside Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the US0 has made a series of major aid announcements over the past year:

$6.5 million for Syrian refugees in Jordan in August 2012, then another $13 million in March and in June Ottawa announced a three-year $100 million aid package to Jordan.

Buried in Ottawan's announcements about the Syrian refugee crisis is the fact that much of the money on offer is for 'security programming'..."

'Syria Infiltrated By Groups With CIA Links'

"No one knows for sure how the US aggression against Syria may play out, not even Washington, while Syria has been infiltrated by groups that have links to the CIA and are also backed by 'certain Arab nations,' former Hezbollah MP Hassan Hoballah told RT...

'...Hamas has withdrawn from Syria and established relations with the co-called 'Arab Spring countries', including Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia, and others. We have never opposed any of these Arab Spring governments, but we believe Hamas has made a mistake by quitting on Syria, because Syria is the main stronghold for resistance. It has proven that with real action rather than mere promises and political statements for the press.

The Americans are lucky to have been given the opportunity not to invade, because it's in their best interests. The US has two principal issues of interest in the Middle East: the security of Israel, and oil. And a military intervention against Syria would jepardize both..."

Assad's Survival Assured  -  by Gwynne Dyer

"It was certainly looking likely that President Bashar Assad's regime would survive - it has had the upper hand militarily in the Syrian civil war for at least six months - but the events of recent weeks have made it virtually certain.

Even if there are delays, the US will be uniquely ill-placed to use them as the pretext for an attack, as it is far behind schedule itself. In 1997, the US agreed to destroy the 31,000 tonnes of sarin, VX, mustard gas and other lethal gases it owned within 10 years...

last year it announced a new deadline: 2021. Given its record, the US will find it tough to use Syrian delays as an excuse for bombing threats.

The civil war will probably continue..."

In my continued search for evidence of the rockets used in this attaack I stumbled upon stuff like this last week and I've been watching this cat fight between these bloggers on whether the rockets used in the chemical attack were fired by the regime or the rebels... I’ve found the evidence of rocket casings at the attack site and I’ve come to my own concussion on who done it and why, not that it matters here; it hasn’t changed my view on the USA not getting involved in this civil war. I say no and fortunatly my congressmen agree with me as well.

Anyways now that NDPP posted the above Point of view we may as well post the other POV as well here so folks here can see both sides of the
argument; not that it would change any minds.

The evidence on munitions linked to the August 21 chemical attacks

The point is it would have took allot of launchers to mount that attack that night... and while the rebels probably have a few captured launchers on hand (that they could operate) I really doubt the rebels have enough of them to hit so many targets in such a short period of time (given the
long reload time as we all watched above). That and have the logistics and ability to sneak those huge launchers into enemy occupied territory to make it look like the regime did it makes the false flag attack theory a pretty long stretch.

After doing my own digging around I'm quit certain the regime did it (probably without Assad's permission). I'm also quit sure the attack didn't turn out as they had planned. You'd have to go to a bunch of sites that are more based on military thinking than politics to find most of what I dug up and I'm sure not going to post it here out of respect for the rules here.

Here’s my thinking on this (if you’re interested): What any of the sites and news source posted here by NDPP doesn’t tell you or cover is the fact that the local Syrian military command in that area was under tremendous pressure from the Assad government to clean up those neighborhoods. The Syrian army had been winning for weeks in all other areas of Syria EXEPT in the one area around Damacus. Think
about it; would you want to be the general whom has to go to those weekly meetings with Assad to brief him on your area and you’re the only one with bad news while others brief him on how good they are now doing? There’s your motivation to use chemical weapons.

They had already to no avail tried all conventional methods to defeat those areas and they all failed. Every time the troops move in they are beaten back despite heavy use of conventional artillery and aerial bombardments before each attack. In the end I think a local commander decided to try something a bit different this time. I suspect they tried to throw in a little gas into the mix this time and under estimated its effect.

Opps… Military history is full of screw ups and this very well could be one of them. And oh by the way, they did get away with it in the end… yes they did.

Everyone have a great weekend. Oh and read the comments section of that link I posted. It's pretty good as well (on second though maybe not for some of you... LOL).

, thanks for this Bec -  interesting...

I still think the vids and pics of the casualties smell a bit fishy, but it'll all come out in the wash eventually I'm sure.

UN Security Council Unanimously Adopts Syrian Revolution

"The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution outlining the details of taking under international control and ultimately destroying Syria's chemical arsenal.

How the US is Enabling Syriastan  -  by Pepe Escobar

"If any extra evidence was needed to shatter the myth of a 'revolution' strategy for a future 'democratic' Syria, the big news of the week cleared any remaining doubts.

This is how it works, in a nutshell. At least half of the FSA 'brigades' are mercenaries - they are financed from abroad. They fight where their masters - who weaponize and pay them - tell them to fight. The 'Supreme Command' controls, at best, something like 20% of the brigades.

And these people don't even live in Syria, they are based on the Turkish or Jordanian side of the border.

The mercenary jihadis, on the other hand, are on the ground full-time. They are the real fighting force, receive their salaries on time and their families are well taken care of.

So for all practical purposes, it's now a war between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and a bunch of jihadis.

Of course, this will NOT be explained by supine corporate media to Western public opinion."

The Rogue Empire   -  by Elizabeth O'Shea

"So the biggest barrier to ridding the Middle East of chemical weapons is not Syria or Russia, or even technically Israel, it is actually the US.

That is not a rhetorical flourish, it is literally the outcome of a resolution proposed by Syria in 2003, when it was a non-permanent member of the Security Council, but ultimately abandoned at the threat of the US exercising its veto.

American exceptionalism continues to justify even more American exceptionalism.

One of the greatest menaces in the world today remains the US Government."
