Oh boo-hoo. Let's empathize with Trump supporters. They were only voting against the establishment, after all.

If more people empathized with trump supporters there's a good chance he may not have got elected.

It's been pointed out a few times here that Trump would not have enjoyed the victory he did without large numbers of former Obama supporters voting for him instead of Clinton.  I find it hard to imagine that any electorate that chose America's first black President is now, suddenly, overcome by White Supremacy, so I find this interesting.

But what say you, Alan?

Is that something you're interested in?  Or are they clearly just more pus-stained canker sores on the penis of America?

I get that you're angry.  What do you plan to do about it?  Just keep flailing and flapping on the floor of the K-Mart while your parents try to soothe you and everyone else either gawks or tries not to look?  Are you actually interested in any of this any more?

I don't appreciate the sarcasm. But what do I plan to do about it? Not much. There is nothing that can undo this for at least 4 years and who knows what the US will be by that time.

It's democracy and Cheeto face won fair and square.

But as for empathizing with Trump's core groupie fanatics, don't wait for it,it's not going to happen.

Then I am not surprised you are so bitter, angry and despondent. I would feel exactly the same way if I thought that. That Sanders would have won against Trump by a significant margin tells me different. In my view the majority of votes for Trump were anti-establishment votes not sexist misogynistic votes.

That is what makes me bitter and angry. The right has become the anti-establishment vote while the left embraces the establishment with the excuse that they must in order to win.

If there is a silver lining in this very dark cloud, it may be that the latest incarnation of a free trade agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), may be dead on arrival -- that is, if Trump keeps his word. But what an irony it is, and how poorly it reflects on the NDP and CLC leadership, that it may take a right-wing, bigoted billionaire to kill a rotten trade deal.

The bottom line is it never mattered what Trump said. He's a Republican. He'll fall right into line. His rhetoric was just that-- rhetoric. There's no chance in hell that the Republicans will allow him to kill trade deals. Those who voted for him as the anti-establishment candidate are going to be very disappointed.

Oh please. Take another look at the list of ghouls on Trump's administration list.

This is something different and more dangerous than any government th US ever had, nevermind Canada.

We're talking about an exteme ultra right-wing take over. Even the Harperites weren't anything as dangerous.

So please, leave the partisan anti- Tin Tin talk out of this equation. This Trump administration is like nothing the Americans ever seen, much less Canada.

Trudeau wants to sign every trade agreement even the ones usurping our regulations and laws

Trudeau is keeping on selling arms to Saudi Arabia

Trudeau is taking more of role in the destruction of the ME than we had before

Stories are starting to surface about children getting beaten up by classmates because they voted for Trump in mock elections.

Also I haven't checked the accuracy yet but Ive read a few spots that this this was one of the lowest voter turn outs in the last 20 years.

I'm sure if the left down south beat up enough people and smash enough property Trump will step down as president.

Got any links to reputable sources for those claims? Here is a story on slate.com about the opposite effect, which I expect to see repeated by Trump's white supremacist fans thousands of times in the next 4 years.

Well, it looks like the first incident actually happened, but it seems much more like a garden variety robbery, with a little Trump jive thrown in for colour. The last case, of the crazy Texas mother, who threw her little boy out rather than teach him where he went wrong may be true, but it's nothing like what you claimed. The only story which looks at all like what you described is sourced from 4 of the most disreputable sites on the internet.

Paladin1 wrote:

This is pure bullshit, without even a hint of a sniff of evidence. All the real evidence is that right-wingers are much more violent than lefties. eg. KKK vs. NAACP, Neo-nazis vs. ADL. Also, studies show that violent video games do not create more violence in the real world.

Paladin1 wrote:

This would be approximately 5% of Trump supporters coming together with 95% of Clinton supporters. Not much point to it, really.

Mr. Magoo

Wow.  Was it only a week ago that the mature, reasonable Clinton supporters were predicting exactly this sort of thing from those deplorables if Trump lost?

BTW, don't watch that last video unless you want to see a terrified child and his brother cry themselves hoarse.  It goes on well past any point that could reasonably be called "a joke".

Fascinatingly, this "mother" wasn't even "caught" or "found out"... she cheerfully posted this video to her own Facebook page, presumably for "likes".

You can't be serious with the linked posts. As it turns out, two of the stories originated from an outfit called TMZ. Who are TMZ?

Quote:
The term “Thirty Mile Zone” originated in the 1960s, when due to the growth of location shoots, studios established a “thirty mile zone” to monitor rules for filming in Hollywood. The center of the zone was the offices of The Association of Motion Pictures and Television Producers, formerly at Beverly and La Cienega Boulevards in Los Angeles. TMZ reinvented the thirty mile zone and now serves as the Internet’s premiere address for entertainment news.

Launched in 2005, TMZ’s meteoric rise followed its exclusive on two of the biggest stories in entertainment: Mel Gibson's DUI arrest and subsequent encounter with law enforcement, and Michael Richards' ill-fated trip to the Laugh Factory. TMZ also broke the news of the breakup of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's marriage.

In other words, one step  below National Enquirer. The two stories that originated with TMZ are the first and last stories, the one of the teenagers beating up the white guy and stealing his car, and the one of the mother who threw her young son out onto the street.

Neither of these stories has even a hint of credibility.

The other story, the one of the Texas schoolboy beaten up because he voted for Trump in a mock election at school is singularly devoid of supporting evidence. But it does have one thing in common with one of the other stories. That is, both the story of the beaten schoolboy and the story of the schoolboy thrown out by his mom were apparently the result of mock elections in Texas schools.

Does that seem a bit of a coincidence to you? It does to me. Why, of all places, Texas? Texas is certainly known as a Republican state, so it would seem more or less normal that if a mock election were held in a school in Texas that a vote or two for the Republican candidate would be expected.

So you have 8 links, none of which are the original source of the story, and none of which has any real evidence of anything.

I'm going to say that all three stories are bullshit, that is, until you or somebody comes up with something a bit more substantial in the way of sourcing than TMZ or Breitbart.

Mr. Magoo

Michael, RP

Those are certainly difficult videos to watch and destroy the love trumps hate mantra they got goin on. I don't blame you for looking for faults or conspiricies.

5% of Trump supporters and 95% of Clinton supporters are peaceful? If you believe that nothing I can say or show you will change your view. It may help you sleep easier telling yourself that the videos were staged by trump supporters. The guy getting the shit kicked out of him volunteered to do that just to make the left look bad, of course. The mother lives in Texas? She HAS to be a Trump supporter then, no stereo types there.

If the original source of the story was ABC Newa I might have a little faith in the story, but it's not. The source of the story is something some unknown person posted on facebook, and tenor of the story was repeated by ABC newsw.

But didn't you wonder how two remarkably similar stories suddenly pop up, both featuring children that suffered for voting for Trump in mock elections in their schools, and both withing a stones throw of each other. You may not know this, but Fort Bend is right beside Stafford, the two areas mentioned in the stories. But their schools are not together at all. In fact therein lies a bit of a story.

Courtesy Wikipedia, entry on Stafford Texas:

Quote:
...The city has the only municipal school district (Stafford Municipal School District) in all of Texas. In 1977, Stafford broke away from the Fort Bend Independent School District, which caused several rounds of federal litigation; and, by 1981, it was finally declared that the Stafford Municipal School District was constitutional. Almost all of Stafford was in FBISD, with a minuscule portion in the Houston Independent School District. All of Stafford is now zoned to the Stafford Municipal School District, which is the only municipal school district in Texas that is controlled by the city. Residents pay property taxes to the school district.

When most of Stafford was a part of Fort Bend ISD, Staffordshire Elementary was located in Stafford. Staffordshire housed Black students in grades 1-4. Staffordshire closed in September 1965 when Fort Bend ISD desegregated. The district later sold the Staffordshire property

Does it not give you even a tiny twinge of a doubt when these two remarkably similar stories pop up from two adjacent townships?

Perhaps it's just an incredible coincidence.

They don't tell us how the assailants knew that he had voted for Trump, or whether they just assumed that because he was white, he must have been a Trump supporter. I'm always loathe to push anyone to watch a video, but if you want the "story" to have some credibility, I don't see how else.

Did you watch it?  And do you believe it's fake?

Yes, and yes.

But maybe he stopped his car and dared onlookers to attack him.  We should give that equal consideration, shouldn't we?

What we should give equal consideration to the proposition that the whole video is bullshit.

In a case where you are quoting two different sources, I think it's reasonable to mention that fact. You wouldn't need to mention the names (although as everyone knows that is my preferred method), but you could mention that the source for one  quote is a different person than the source for the other quote(s).
