political involvement

I decided I'd like to run federally in my riding....I've been fighting union issues for years and it seems like a logical step. I studied environmental studies and archaeology and anthropology in unversity and my heart has always most reflected the NDP views.

Being involved with the somewhat disorganised riding association has left me feeling a bit disattached from what I originally started off doing. I know I need to reach people and market myself, but at times it seems so overwhelming...

I originally wanted to get involved because I went to lobby bill c-257 in ottawa to ban replacement workers strike. the pettiness and (hate to say it but...) the politics was ridiculous. Liberals said they generally don't support block bills, a conservative said he wasn't voting in favour because one of our people gave the finger and motioned it to the direction of the conservatives...and they all had a way out. stating that it didn't cover essential services, when unions had provided literature where there was a lot of case law that used the language of case law, long story short it covered essential services...and of course there was, well, we follow what our party leader advises or we will quash it and introduce our new and improved version...

anyway that is why i wanted to get involved; to stand up for what is right and not what will allow me to just hold down a job.

I just don't know how to market myself...i have to be the elected candidate first though lol...

any ideas?
