"Damages cheque on the back burner: Meeting move means more delay for fired man"
"Faced with a 3 p.m. deadline yesterday and two choices - to issue a $41,998.40 cheque for damages to a black man who has just won a major discrimination case or be taken before the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal - the Montreal Transit Corp. has taken a third tack.
"It's put everything on ice by requesting a meeting with the man, along with officials of the Quebec Human Rights Commission that awarded the damages and the Centre for Research-Action on Race Relations.
