Welcoming ceremony for the climate justice caravan
Council of Canadians Board member Leticia Adair, water campaigner Emma Lui and I are at the welcoming ceremony for the climate justice caravan at this moment at a sports field in downtown Cancun.
11 am – There are about 400 of us here in this covered-space including Tony Clarke, Richard Girard, Medea Benjamin, Laura Carlsen, Carleen Pickard. Shannon Biggs, and other friends. Two hundred more people are just about to arrive.
The welcoming has just begun with a traditional Mayan ceremony of thanks. All the countries represented here are now being named, as well as the Mexican organizations here.
More soon.
