Following in the tradition of the World Social Forum and last summer’s extremely successful Peoples’ Social Forum in Ottawa, we are hosting the TORONTO PEOPLES’ SOCIAL FORUM! This gathering of social and environmental movements, unions, civil society, Indigenous peoples and progressives will be an official counter-summit to the Pan-American Economic Forum immediately preceding it. We shall counter the narratives of the elite neoliberal and neoconservative voices with those of our own!

We will gather as diverse peoples with pluralistic visions of change on what has for centuries been considered shared territory. The lands upon which Toronto is built have been a home and hunting grounds of many peoples, including the Haudenosaunee, Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit. This is the territory of the One Dish One Spoon treaty, which was made between the Anishnaabe and Haudenosaunee. What belongs to one belongs to all. In this spirit, we will come together to find ways to work together towards a more just and joyful world.
