It is election day in Ontario. If you live in another part of Canada you might not be that interested, but surely, you know someone who lives in Ontario? It’s the most populated province in the country. Maybe you could pass this article along to them?

Notably in Ontario, the last few days have seen the development of an online “Decline your vote” campaign, which has been linked to a conservative communications firm. This, in turn, has lead to speculation that the campaign is an attempt to convince progressives in the province to, well, decline their vote and thus sweep the PC party into power. John Baglow has some thoughts on this development and the fragility of democracy.

In fact, Baglow also notes the highly controversial decision on the part of the publisher at The Globe and Mail to overrule his editorial board (who wanted to endorse Wynne) and endorse the people’s champion, Tim Hudak. Baglow’s verdict: um, “grossly unethical.”

Feel like discussing the election? Well, you know that you are always welcome at babble! Here are two election threads you can join on Ontario polling and Ontario general election, or Ontario prediction thread and there are sure to be more as the day progresses.

Want a little more? There are some of the articles we’ve published over the last while on the topic of Ontario’s general election, for the reading pleasure of Ontarians of voting age, and the rest of you too at our Ontario elections issue page.

Happy reading, and happy voting!
