GoVote: The voter suppression antidote

Please chip in to support more articles like this. Support rabble.ca today for as little as $1 per month!

Dear rabble reader,

Since forming government, Harper and his Conservative Party have worked hard to suppress the vote. They know that the majority of Canadians don't support them. That is why voter suppression tactics are so important to their electoral success. Now, rabble.ca has lined up its most extensive and comprehensive editorial plan ever to cover the current federal election and provide you with tools and information to help take our country back!

This week we're launching GoVote, a new project of rabble's Activist Toolkit. Help us keep innovations like these growing by donating to rabble right now.

We all know how razor thin Harper's victory was in 2006. We know that in 2015 every vote will count. rabble's GoVote brings together all of the get-out-the-vote tools in one convenient location. GoVote will include all the election information voters need including voting information resources, important links, party platform report cards, election news and events, and three-minute actions for activists such as links to new petitions to sign on emerging issues.

Your donation helps support rabble make social change happen. With tools like GoVote we can fight back against the government's attempts at subverting our civil liberties. We can produce a change in government. Please donate now to keep supporting the work we all do at rabble.

Thank you for all you do,

Maya Bhullar
Activist Toolkit coordinator

Thank you for reading this story…

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.

rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.

So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.

And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
