So close we can feel it

Please chip in to support more articles like this. Support rabble.ca in its summer fundraiser today for as little as $5 per month!

Dear readers,

We're almost there! Thanks to you we're only $5K away from our winter fundraising goal of $50,000. With just a few days to go, we could really use one more push from our readers all over Canada. All hands on deck, as we crowd surf the way to our crowd-funding goals.

As rabble.ca inches closer to its 19th anniversary of providing "news for the rest of us," we are ever reflective on our mission to give a platform to grassroots underrepresented stories. To do this, we have to keep growing this platform. And with the reception we have received so far this year, we know we can with a little help from those who believe progressive independent media is necessary.

Can you reach out to a few people you know, and encourage them to support rabble.ca's work? Or if you haven't yet, please chip in yourself.

Remember, if you donate when our campaign is still going you can receive the following gifts:

  • New monthly donors of $5 or more will receive a copy of Donald Gutstein's The Big Stall: How Big Oil and Think Tanks are Blocking Action on Climate Change in Canada.

  • And if you can support rabble.ca at $8/month or more, you can get a copy of either Linda McQuaig's new book, The Sport and Prey of Capitalists: How the Rich are Stealing Canada's Public Wealth,* or one of a limited number of signed copies of Libby Davies' Outside In: A Political Memoir.*

Any amount helps, and we are grateful to our friends for being by our side.

In solidarity,

Kim Elliott, publisher

*While supplies last. Books are shipped on a first come first serve basis.

Thank you for reading this story…

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.

rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.

So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.

And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
