QUEBEC -- Police have issued an arrest warrant for former Olympic biathlon champion Myriam Bedard, who is suspected of kidnapping her daughter to the U.S.

The TQS network says the 11-year-old's father, Jean Paquet, formally filed a complaint with police last week.

Documents obtained by TQS indicate that Bedard took her daughter to the United States after contravening the joint-custody agreement since Oct. 3.

And it gets stranger.

I'm sure the truth will come out-- whether we like it or not. It's always tedious when custody or separtion agreement disputes become public.

No one really knows what it going on, and Dimano offers no new facts.

That's not a column or a news article.

It's tawdry gossip.

Painet Cirques

What a mean-spirited, unwarranted and slanderous column. There's no doubt in my mind who Rosie DiManno is working for...she's gone out of her way to paint Myriam as a lunatic and stops just short of calling her a liar. What a perfect example of the textbook media tactics employed to discredit whistleblowers.

quote:

Mr. Mazhari was convicted Tuesday of stealing 20 paintings from fellow artist Ghitta Caiserman-Roth between 2001 and 2003. He was also found guilty of possession of stolen goods worth a total of $100,000.

A jury of 10 women and two men deliberated for two days before returning with the verdict. [...]

The crimes came to light when Ms. Caiserman-Roth's daughter received a letter from Ms. Bedard's estranged father in 2004 accusing him of the theft.

Mr. Mazhari called the allegations ridiculous and said his problems started after Ms. Bedard testified at the inquiry into the sponsorship scandal.

The trial has been tinged with elements of a family feud as Bedard family members and friends of the Olympian testified their dislike of Mr. Mazhari and his influence over Ms. Bedard. [...]

Ms. Bedard, who has been by Mr. Mazhari's side all through the court proceedings, was not with him on Tuesday.

I kind of like the idea of a cross-country skier who's a good shot on the run from the law. Too bad it's not winter.

Pitch it to the CBC, perhaps as a reality show.

I'm thinking something with Claudine Longet...

quote:

The boyfriend of former Olympic champion Myriam Bйdard has been sentenced to six months in jail for stealing works of art by Montreal artist Ghitta Caiserman-Roth.

Judge Claude Decarie described Nima Mazhari as a manipulator who showed no remorse, as he handed down the sentence in a Montreal court on Friday morning. [...]

Asking "what planet" Mazhari lived on, the judge said the evidence against him was overwhelming, yet he continued to claim his innocence.

Decarie said Mazhari manipulated his partner Bйdard like a puppet, saying that's the only possible explanation he could see for what he calls Bйdard's "surrealistic" testimony during the trial.

The judge must be part of the conspiracy... Where is Gomery when we most need him...

The controversial life of Myriam Bйdard took another twist yesterday when the Olympic gold medallist was found guilty of breaching a custody order involving her daughter. [...] The maximum jail term for breaching a child custody order is 10 years.

The judge presiding over Myriam Bedard's trial slammed the former Olympian for making her daughter testify during a pretrial motion to dismiss her child abduction case.

Justice Jean-Claude Beaulieu called her move a "lifeline to support her imaginary conspiracy theory" before he rejected her lawyer's motion to dismiss the case. [...]

Beaulieu stressed that Pepper disregarded the daughter's rights by making her testify during the motion and added it "was hardly nice," to put the 11-year-old on the stand.

Pepper later decided not to make the daughter take the stand during the trial "to prevent a traumatic experience."

Lets hope she gets both a prison sentence and psychiatric help.

I have no sympathy with anyone playing around with a child's life and custody (or support for that matter)

She had received a two-year probation term and an absolute discharge - in other words, no incarceration, no help with her problem and as her court escapades show, no recognition of her narcisssistic playing around with her 11-year-old child's life. Very unfortunate.

Meanwhile, , her rather odd spouse lost his appeal against a six-month sentence for theft of $80,000 worth of art work.
