Hallo all

djelimon

I look forward to honest discussion about things political and gaining insights with fellow progressives. My knowledge of political current affairs is pathetic compared to many of the posters here, but maybe in some small way I can contribute. I am a dues-paying NDPer and have been very much influenced about things political my uncle, an ex-union organizer and former treasurer of NDP Quebec (or is that NDP Montreal?). It's probably his vision of what social democracy can be that more than anything has kept me in the NDP. I have wished for a long time that there was a sort of lefty on line community I could correspond with, and I guess this is it.

I must admit that the current incarnation of Greens has me a little conflicted though.

Welcome djelimon!

I'm relatively new here too. There are many informative threads about the Greens here.

Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the Green Party of Canada has shifted to the right since the Harris days. May has done nothing to swing it back to the centre, let alone the left in my opinion.

Welcome new babblers!

I haven't much to say about the Green party except that they sure ain't progressive these days, and I wonder if they ever were. But there are tons of Green party threads for us all to enjoy!

Oh, and djelimon? I get most of my news from babble. I'm sadly inept at keeping up with current news, and I figure if it's great enough, or horrible enough, I'll hear about it eventually. Hey, it works for me!

Hey There and welcome.

Some of us here snarl a lot (you can guess if I am one of them). But overall the debate is good.

Look fwd to reading your scribes.

Laine Lowe, I didn't know you were thet new. I thought you pre-dated me here.

BTW, don't worry too much about the GP. If yet anything close to socialist or social democrat, or working class ecologist (like me), you're pretty safe.

So where have you gone? Don't be so modest.

Certainly a party that ex-PCs can park their votes with, and centrist Quebec federalists can vote for in preference to Mario Dumont, is not the same as the German Green Party. However, at least it gives voters more choices. Slightly ahead of their time, since we don't have proportional representation yet, but on the other hand they've demonstrated the need for more voter choice.
