RedEye- Sexualization of Young Girls

I just finished listening to one of the latest episodes of [url=http://www.rabble.ca/rpn/podcast.php?id=rey]RedEye[/url] on the RPN and it brought up a number of interesting points, and is worth taking a listen to.

We've all heard the discussions about the sexualization of young girls in our society. It's been going on for as long since I was a young girl in middle school and high school. This isn't new, but this podcast brought up some interesting points, so I thought I'd take a minute to recommend it to everyone out there.

It deals with the narrowly defined notion of femininity that we're all faced with on a daily basis- in movies, in advertisements, on television, giving false impressions of what children need to aspire to be. The podcast even goes as far to tell the story of a 7 year old, asking if she needs breast implants. This is very indicative of the world that we live in.

Take a listen. It's something I wish every 13 year old girl could hear.
