It's been swell, it's been great ...

When I mentioned to a friend that I had resigned my position as editor of rabble.ca, she expressed great surprise. “I thought you loved your work there,” she said. And I do. I have loved every minute of the work I've done here. But I've been here since May of 2003. That's a long time in internet years and it is now time for rabble and me to tear ourselves apart and pursue other challenges.

Best wishes wherever you go, whatever you do.
Congratulations, Sharon - thank you - and au revoir!
Oh, Sharon, sad to see you go, too many changes here in the last year it seems, but best wishes and know you will be missed.
The best Sharon.
Sharon rocks! I'm sorry you're going, but wish you all the best at whatever lies ahead. (Lays ahead? You're the editor!)
Hopefully you'll still hang around babble though.
Happy trails Sharon.
so, is there a job opening at Rabble??
Kidding. Thanks so much for your work here, Sharon and your occasional commentary on babble. It has been a blast...
And thank you Sharon also for doing on this thread what I suggested in the d... forum: Linking from the front page to a prepared thread on babble.
Doesn't that work great? Isn't Sharon smart and efficient? Shouldn't we honour her by doing more of this?

Best of everything for your future, soon to be former editor.

Unless, of course, you agree to drop in regularly -- and then Michelle can edit you.
That's really too bad. Good luck in everything!
You're going to be missed. I hope you stick around on babble!
Permission to delurk in order to pay tribute to Sharon, who has been such a good friend to babble and a friend to me too.
That is an exceptionally graceful and generous statement, Sharon, as of course it would be, given your exceptional grace and generosity.
Me, I feel like crying. I think this is hard news, and I am very sorry to read it.
But on this thread, your voice and your longer view rule, chick.
For women of our cohort who have travelled through Canadian publishing over the decades, life has been ... well, interesting, has it not? You have built up an extraordinary fund of knowledge and activist ties and tremendous credit to match, Sharon, and I hope you will keep us posted (as it were) on your next adventures.
Toujours gai, Sharon. *hugs*
[And you know where to find me, any time. ]
As a rabble columnist, I always appreciated Sharon's patience, her speed in correcting typos (about which people also e-mailed me) and her insistence on giving credit to her writers when someone praised her for a headline. I've been out of the weekly grind for some months now, but my appreciation for Sharon's efforts has not wained. Best of luck.
Also delurking to honour another wordsmith babe, and hoping rabblers, babblers and lurkers appreciate the amount of skill and hard work involved in sourcing and editing newsworthy stories, and seeing that the site remained content-rich, progressive and feminist - and not merely a focus for management-speak glitz and hoopla.
Sharon will remember working with Gesteteners, Letraset, REAL blue pencils and illuminated tables, as well as all dictionaries, glossaries and reference materials existing only in paper form, and having to traipse to a library to research an unknown term...
I do hope all that knowledge is valued, not only at rabble but in all your future endeavours.
Beaucoup de bisous!
Thanks Sharon! Best of luck with everything you do. I'm sure I will continue to see you in the CBC nerd's thread from time to time!
rabble.ca is going to have some very big shoes to fill!
Sharon, you've made this site an incredibly rich and interesting place to visit for the past few years. Wishing you the best wherever life takes you in the future.
Well, as a relative new-comer (change I say that here, since I feel I've been around here for about 200 years), I don't know you or your work all that well.
But as both a print, broadcast and web site editor I can empathize with the amount of work and patience, and sometimes guts, it takes to keep things moving.
I thank you for all your efforts in keeping this site going, and wish you all the best in your new efforts.
Carry the Torch!
[i]Baby, don't you know
We're leaving early in the mornin
So long I don't know
If I'll might be back next year
Maybe it just might be never
Don't you worry 'bout it
So long, good to know
Your smilin' face was here

Thank you Sharon for your patience, wisdom and courage and best wishes in your future endeavours.
Go get'em, Sharon. And take care.
Thank you so much for so many lovely words. I really appreciate them!

You're right, siren. It's pretty easy to link the story by the discuss button to the babble thread. I just got out of the habit. I think I could come up with a bunch of reasons but they would sound like excuses.

You'll still contribute to the CBC Radio Nerds thread, right?

Sharon, thanks for all the time and love you have put into this site. (People may not realize but Sharon puts a huge amount of volunteer hours into the site beyond what she is paid for.)
I hope you'll be dropping in on babble and letting us know what's happening in your neck of the woods.
Thanks for your work here, Sharon and I wish you well for the future.
Sharon, thank you for work and committment and best of luck in future endeavours.
Good luck in the future, Sharon. I'm sure I'll still get to chat with you now and then around the ol' virtual rabble water cooler.
Sharon, all the best.
Take care, Sharon. Thanks for all you've done for us.
Good luck Sharon, have fun in the future.
