Poll: Most GOPers Don't Believe Evolution

Evolution may be one of the fundamental building blocks of modern biological science, but a new Gallup survey finds that the majority of Republicans in the United States do not believe the theory of evolution is true and do not believe that humans evolved over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.

The findings suggest that the three Republican presidential candidates who indicated last month that they do not believe in evolution may have been taking a safe stance on the issue.

The poll released Monday said that while the country is about evenly split over whether the theory of evolution is true, Republicans disbelieve it by more than 2-1.

With those knuckle draggers, even showing them a mirror would be inconclusive for them as proof of the missing link.

If you an eye opener go on the Ann Coulter web site and read some of the Blogs. Amongst the most popular lately has been one on the opening of a creationist "museum" in the States. The new one in Alberta is certainly a very pale shadow of the american one.

The crowd on the blog is quite amazing and while several are typical obstructionists, there are an exceptional number of "true believers (and I though old Stock Day was a bit of a singularity).

You'll note there are several themes comon to these types. Racism and militarism are chief amongst them. Add this to vehement anti-choice attitudes and a complete dismissal of the causes of climate change.

What is really disturbing is that it appears many, if not most, are serious. And they rail against extremist "islamofacists" as they like to call almost everyone in the near east and mid Asia. Worrisome is an understatement.
