Does Internet porn actually reduce rape?

Sorry for this additional male based conjecture, but here it is. I don't believe there is any realistic evidence that internet porn has any mitigating effect on why someone would commit this violently criminal and depraved act, just as the availability of girly mags and xxx movies for years did not provide any evidence that it could be categorized as some sort of 'treatment' or 'mind occupying' therapy. Personally I believe that these mediums, including the internet sources, may serve to reinforce and perpetuate in the mind of a predator, both the stereotype that is displayed, and their view of women as objects to exploit the way pornography does. I also don't believe that a predator's so called unfulfilled horny predicament is the cause of why they would commit violence to realize their needs. I think it's the mere fact that they see others as exploitable, and the violent thrill of being a dominator over people. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with their desire for sex, but only what sick, criminal mindsets could contemplate. But then again, I’m just guessing because I truly don't have any particular personal insight beyond conjecture on the issue of rape, because as a guy, I can't relate to it other than to see it as a brutal crime, one that I need not worry about from my own safety standpoint.

The porn is cathartic argument is nothing new. It's been around far longer than the internet has. As BCG posted at the top rape is not about sex, it is about power. For some rapists, it is about fulfilling a fantasy and is planned out well in advance. I would say that the man who raped Jane Doe was one of these. (thread drift - to third Stargazer and BCG - read this book and try to see her speak if you get the chance, she speaks at several law schools in Ontario I believe). As we know, date rape is far more common than the guy in the alleyway scenario. These rapists don't think very much of women. They justify their actions to themselves saying she wanted or deserved it. It's probably not planned and more based on opportunity.

I don't see how porn would reduce either incidence. The man in the alley gets off on power and violence. The date rapist sees an opportunity and takes it because he can. Is either of these men less likely to rape because he jacked off this morning? If so, why? Because he needs sex less because he already released? I feel that this reasoning is based on the stereotype that men cannot control themselves when it comes to sex.

I don't believe that men cannot control their bodies and therefore, I don't believe that porn reduces rape.

That was supposed to be his or her not her or her

Its a bit of a reach to think a obvious typo is a bald statement of the sort you state.
