NEW to the site and into ROBOTICS!!

evantherobot

New to the site and looking for like minded people to talk shop about robotics, advancements, research, future of robotics, and the moral responsibility when it comes to A.I.

Welcome, Evan.

Unfortunately for you, I'm not into robotics. I'm into humans.

I'm sure there are some tech-folks around here, though.

Do you have any views that you'd like to share about the enormous efforts that were made to construct programs that play chess as well as or better than humans?

Maysie Maysie's picture

Also, why was the Jetson's robot maid wearing an apron?

bcg's a troll, a troll, a troll...

I'll watch this with interest, as I'm in the process of giving up on humans.

Golden Retrievers are still pretty good though.

Yeah, what about training computers to play Ker Plunk?

I wonder if evan is questioning his choice of forums yet.

Maysie Maysie's picture

Fora.

Oh, I forgot - welcome to babble, Evan!

Don't mind the other moderators. I think there's a glitch in their programming.

oldgoat

Ah! That explains all the emails I keep getting offering to "enhance" certain aspects of my functioning.

evantherobot

Haha, you are all too funny!

I have no idea why the jetsons maid wore an apron.
But I'm into humans as well..
My friend showed me this site if anyones interested.. It's the discovery channels video site or something. It's got some pretty rad videos of all kinds of stuff. I learned alot of stuff I didn't know...

www.dailyplanetclips.ca

Rad site anyways..

Thanks for the warm welcome!

The Wizard of S...

What I miss is "Science International" with Joseph Campanella & Tiiu Leek. That was good infotainment.

I didn't know you were that old, Wiz.

The Wizard of S...

I was a very nerdy little kid. I dug that and The Professor from The Hilarious House of Frightenstein, bigtime. It made for some very interesting show and tells.

You mean like this fellow?

I've never seen that science show. Do you guys know any other good science shows? I actually went from a cool kid to a nerd, hahha.. but thats only because I like to learn and make myself learn new things everyday.
Anyone check out that site yet, let me know what you think guys.

evantherobot

hey guys, I just signed up for that discovery contest, if anyone wants to help me out that would be super. just click on this link and click on the banner like once a day or something!

I want to win the xbox 360!

http://www....

thanks

Hey evan, babble sometimes get spammed around stuff like this. I think that you should delete your link because a mod may come along and do it for you soon.

oldgoat

Grumble...This came up a bit less than a year ago I think. Some young fellow wanted help winning some damn bit of electronics or other. As I recall I was the only one willing to help the kid out, and the consensus of the board was that it should be taken down, which I reluctantly did.

Well, I've clicked on his banner, but we'll see how it goes.

evantherobot

Thank you for voting, I'm just trying to win a contest to get a Xbox 360, if you arent interested in helping me out i completely understand.
I'm not going to spam the board everyday or anything. I think you all know about the contest with my one post anyways right?

Again, thank you for not deleting my post and thanks to anyone that helps me out with a vote!

The Wizard of S...

So if this is the direction the board is going, I've got a 1980 Caprice for sale. $500. Firm. No rust. Great winter car. PM me if interested.

I'll be posting some viagra links later.

Fidel

Hey Evan, XBox360 is pretty cool man. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to create your own console and video games?

evantherobot

Oh man, If I were only brilliant enough to construct my own console, I used to program my own games on tape when I was a kid.. but thats as far as that goes.

I often get a fix of mild science nerdosity (astronomy, biology, technology, etc.) by listening to Quirks & Quarks on CBC Radio 1, broadcast weekly at 12:06pm Saturdays, and repeated Mondays at 11:06pm. Better yet, they put all audio on their website. You can browse past shows for stories of interest, or subscribe to the podcast.

Oh, yes, and welcome, evant-hero-bot.

On tape? That must have been a job. Hey it's all reduced to machine language and op code in the end whether executing on a PC, robot, cell phone or automagic dishwasher. They've even automated the hard programming end of it for 3-D games Pretty soon everyone and their dog will be making them.

Imagine an X-generation "AI engine" that automates synthetic intelligence for your robot or bio-machine "interface unit", whatever that could be, sometime in the near future.
