Gary Lunn hires image consultant

OTTAWA -- Taxpayers shelled out to pay a private image consultant to coach Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn for his televised appearance before a Commons committee in Ottawa yesterday.

Lunn was hauled before the committee to answer questions about the controversial shutdown of the nuclear reactor at Chalk River. . . .

. . . "I think that it is a little pathetic that a minister of the Crown needs to turn to an image consultant before going before a committee hearing," said John Williamson, director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

"This is the kind of spending that not only was the Reform party opposed to in opposition but it's also the kind of business taxpayers were told would end under a Stephen Harper government," he said.

The consultant used was the Ottawa firm McLoughlin Media, the same company the Mounties paid $25,000 to help former RCMP commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli prepare for his appearance before parliamentary hearings.

And yet Canadian police forces have to have car washes to pay for criminal exchange between provinces.

Say nothing of our infrastructure deficits because the Cons are way to busy spending a fortune on polling and image consultants, and wars.

Sorry folks but this is nothing new. As much as I would love to attack Lunn for this it would be stupid since Barry McLoughlin has been around Ottawa since at least the early '90s. He has provided media training through departments as well as MPs for a long time

How do I know? Well my brother in law works for a competitor to Barry and has bid on the same RFPs.

If anything this shows the quality we get for money spent.
