"York University students will hold an anti-racism rally today after anti-black graffiti was discovered on campus.

The graffiti was found Tuesday on the doors of the York University Black Students’ Alliance (YUBSA) office and an adjacent men’s washroom.

The vandalism is the latest high-profile crime on the sprawling campus of at Canada’s third largest university.

Over the past five months, there have been three sexual assaults, a brutal attack on a Student Centre employee and simmering tensions over the Middle East conflict."

I had class during the rally so I'm not sure how well-attended it was. Earlier today I saw some going around the campus with a permanent marker scrawling "White supremicists go back to hell" all over the place.

Couple hundred attended. Best part was the York U Prez tried to speak but was condemned for taking 2 days to condemn the graffiti.

Ignorant fool.

What do you think of Obadiah Shoher's views on the Middle East conflict? One can argue, of course, that Shoher is ultra-right, but his followers are far from being a marginal group. Also, he rejects Jewish moralistic reasoning - that's alone is highly unusual for the Israeli right. And he is very influential here in Israel. So what do you think?

I think he does a good job exampling the naked imperialism that is at the heart of the Zionist ethos.

quote:

The book's dedication could be expanded to include Baruch Goldstein. Isn't though he a criminal? For one, aren't Bonnie and Clyde criminals, and yet they became popular, almost positive characters. I disagree with Goldstein on technicality, the place. Terrorists do not largely attack synagogues, and he should not shoot in a mosque. An idea behind an eye for an eye is very clear connection between damage and retribution. Had he been shooting in a bus - like the terrorists do - many would find that less objectionable.

One would like to remind Shoher that while he muses about the currative value of an "eye for an eye," that the very first Palestinian suicide bombing was a direct retaliation for Goldstein's massacred victims. That is what one would like to remind him of. But then why bother? You might as well treat his writing as a kind of racist intellectual vandalism, that should be cleaned up by the janitor, and forgotten, so that normal people can go on with their daily lives undisturbed by his mindless drivel.

And this has what to do with anti-black racism at YorkU?

Michelle

Yeah, maybe discuss that in another thread, please.
