O'Reilly Doesn't -Want- to Lynch Michelle Obama

This could be his undoing. But maybe not. I'm betting his choice of words was deliberate. He wants to play the martyr-to-political-correctness so he says that, just hoping some of the earlier controversy from the Tiger Woods sportscaster comment comes into his direction.

Except he's not going to apologize or backtrack. Not him! He's going to play it the way he probably wishes that sportscaster had played it - bluster and defiance all the way.

O'reilley is and always be a blow hard. He has tried to style himself as a kind of "leftie" Rush Limbaugh, all piss and vinegar, and so has adopted the style and language of the right. Thing is he slipped up here because he didn't realize that the mode of discourse of the right is filled with catch phrases that refelct their mind-set, so in fact even the style makes you right wing.

Intellectually he is a clod, and often talks shit he does not know. For example he went into a long monologue about how Condeleeza Rice was an idiot because she stated that FDR declared war on Germany in 1941. Rice he mused, "a PHD", should know better. O'Reilley was quite entertaining in his delivery of his description of the German
Declaration of war on the US.

Thing is though, while this is true, it is also true that the USA reciprocated the Declaration of War, and Congress voted in favour of FDR's bill declaring war on December 12th 1941, and more importantly releasing funds to prosecute that war. This was what Rice was talking about.

Fundamentaly, his latent sexism is an expression of his assumption, in this case that Rice a black woman who is also the Secretary of State would be wrong, and he did not check his facts.
