introducing myself
Hi rabblers,
Just registered, thought I should be an upstanding newbie and introduce myself before joining regular discussions. I've been to rabble more than a few times and read on babble more than a few threads.
I'm a media junkie on partial hiatus, living (and breathing?) in Toronto. I'm a fan of Rick Salutin, Naomi Klein and Heather Mallick, which is probably why I kept coming back to rabble, but the first visit was out of respect for Judy Rebick. And now there's Ruckus.

As are many of us outside Toronto.
Welcome to babble.
Welcome! And yes, of course, Ruckus is very important. (You can become a fan of her on Facebook now.)
Welcome, Ideo!
Welcome to babble, Ideosyncratic.
Thanks everyone!
Ruckus is a girl monkey?! I feel disillusioned, like the time I found out Big Bird was a boy -- before that, I thought Big Bird was just Big Bird, no gender assignment in mind. Already her fan on facebook, thanks Michelle!

I have no idea whether it's a girl monkey or not. In fact, I think probably male pronouns have been used for Ruckus elsewhere, but I like to think of Ruckus as a girl.

Whew! I'm relieved that Ruckus' gender identity remains indeterminate.
As a Facebook friend of Ruckus I think gender identity is best left to the individual.
I don't know...I just checked the fan page for Ruckus, and the biography uses male pronouns.
So I posted on the wall.
