In other words, this is bullshit, and if a conviction is handed down, it will be a purely political decision.

Hopefully, even Harper isn't that compliant to the Bush agenda. If he is, and has pressed for or manipulated a conviction, expect this to cost Canadians many tens of millions in court and settlement costs down the road.
