Not all the media have sold out - there are still some honest brokers who have worked in the media long enough to know how it works. Anne Lagace Dowson is a good example.

Wouldn't an "honest broker" be one that doesn't belong to any political party?

We used to listen to her on CBC radio at home... She's running an impressive campaign in Westmount Ville-Marie up against weapons-designer-turned astronaut-turned-politician Marc Garneau. Her website is Anne Lagace Dowson's Homepage

I knew we could agree that all politicians were dishonest That has got to change. Anne spent the last 20 years learning about everyday problems by talking to people on the radio. Now, those people are going to put her in a position to do something about those problems.

In a perfect world that would be true. Our world isn't perfect. One who doesn't belong to any political party is one who will never get elected.

I guess at some point being a bystander is no longer palatable, especially given our current reformist-conservative government.

One can be honest and take a stand, I don't see an incompatibility there

Salut, I just wanted to make clear that I have never been a member of any political party except the The Edible Ballot Society

As a journalist, I never wanted to be dragged into this whole McKeever-NDP situation.

I do write mostly about "left" issues, so my first affinity group would be to the "left" according to my personal views, but I am not an activist in the sense that I would be writing journo-propo (journalist propaganda) articles for any campaign or cause.

I do, however, rely on my activist network while working on stories.

Again, I’d like to assert that I never wanted to be dragged into this whole McKeever-NDP situation as I prefer to write about the news than be involved in the news in this degree.
