I know few brides who depillate unwillingly... I don't think men should have to wax or botox any more than women should have to -- which they don't.

Just to be clear - I WAS making a joke. [img]wink.gif" border="0[/img] I'd be pretty offended if someone made cosmetic surgery a condition of being their bridesmaid or maid of honour. I don't have any friends like that, luckily.
But I'm not positive that I would never consider cosmetic surgery. I mean, I don't think I would, but I don't think it's morally wrong or anything. At least, not moreso than any other attempt to change my appearance for the sake of adornment or beauty.

Yes, I knew you were kidding, Michelle.
I have some mixed feelings about cosmetic surgery. I have a scar on my forehead that I had a reduction procedure on when I was 16 -- this was long before the advent of the laser techniques they use now. It didn't reduce it, just changed the shape. I now have a lightening bolt much like Harry Potter (which goes nicely with the unruly black hair and green eyes, too). I considered giving it another try a few years ago. Part of me felt it would be nice to have a blemish-free forehead, but another part of me felt like I was giving in. It's my face, it's had a scar on it for as long as I can remember. Why wouldn't it?
I wouldn't judge someone else for choosing to go do it. It just felt too odd for me to.
Taking the cosmetic surgery thing to the level of primping for a wedding, though... Urgh. Bad enough to have to wear a (usually) evil dress not of your choosing!

I don't think anyone should have misgivings about plastic surgery after an accident, disease etc. Though I've seen pics of you and the scar must not be very visible and certainly not disfiguring.

It's not a hugely disfiguring scar by any means, but it's there. I wear bangs most of the time. If it was a big disfigurement, I probably would have tried to have it reduced further -- part of those mixed feelings.
Just had a memory flash -- when I was 19, I had a modelling scout tell me I was "too short, too old and have a scar on your face." I thought it was kind of funny.
