What an odd list - I like Lonely Planet (and am also lagatta on their thorn tree board), though like all travel guides they've had contributors who didn't really do their research thoroughly or update it. But it is hard to identify top travel destinations as they'd be so different according to people's interests. You sure as hell ain't getting me to pay money to go anywhere COLDER tha here, such as Greenland. And I suppose I'm getting old and cautious, but I'd be disinclined to go to Rwanda or Algeria until I'm fairly sure that the human rights situation is really vastly improved. I don't know a hell of a lot about most of the other destinations. (Yes, I will study them at the [url=http://www.lonelyplanet.com]www.lonelyplanet.com[/url] website).
Lonely Planet has Australian backpacker roots, and does tend to the more adventurous type of travel, though they have guides and discussion boards on everything.
