A Green party candidate in this month's federal election was killed early Sunday morning in a car crash, the party said.Pat Gostlin died in a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in Oshawa, Ont., the party said in a news release. Gostlin, a former teacher and union representative, ran for the party in the riding of Oshawa, placing fourth.
In the release, Green party Leader Elizabeth May described Gostlin's death as "devastating."
A suspect is in custody and Durham Regional Police Service speculate that alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.
