Music to my ears. And still leading in Florida and N.C.
ABC's coverage is really solid. Not as flashy and gimmicky as CNN, but quality all-around analysis. Diane Sawyer especially is doing a good job as co-host.
CNN just gave Ohio to Obama.
CNN is now projecting Ohio for Obama!!
And so is every other major news station.

Next they need a woman - and then more presidents with beards.
CNN reports the McCain camp at the Biltmore in Phoenix have turned off the news and instead are listening to Hank Williams Jr. Very solemn atmoosphere there. McCain is en route to the Biltmore to speak soon.
Ohio seems to have done it. That was all that was needed to change from 2004, and the Democrats shouldn't lose any states, and will likely pick up others.
It's early going yet but we might be hearing "Senator Al Franken" at some point. He's leading.

Potentially New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, NC, Virginia and Utah (edit: oops I meant Nevada, not Utah) on top of Ohio. Not as high an electoral vote as Clinton received, but a higher percent of the vote then Clinton received in both '92 and '96. Probably Obama will actually have the highest vote percentage among Democratic candidates since LBJ in 1964.

They've called N.Mex and Iowa now.
New Mexico's already been called for Obama in most places.
It will be over by 8pm, Pacific time.
A West Coast sweep will put Obama over the top.
Any third party vote totals yet?
Obama should get declared the winner officially at 11. Ohio was the backbreaker for McCain.

Indiana ridiculously close with Obama only 9000 votes behind.
Yeah I found that a little odd in regards to New Mexico, but Obama is leading now. They had called Obama in Michigan before any results were available and then early on he was back by 15% too.
The Godless Americans have defeated Elizabeth Dole.
Might be the first time in over 100 years that Missouri does not support the presidental winner.
This is very exciting. I keep switching back and forth from comments here and watching the results on TV.

Me too!
Though now we've switch to the comedy version of the results with Stewart and Colbert.
My Dad keeps saying, well it looks like it's in the bag can I watch Law and Order now and my Mom keeps thwaping him, "no no, this is history, we're watching this...'
LoL.

Actually, the US has had two gay presidents: James Buchanan and Abraham Lincoln.
They could also bring back some long hairs, and maybe the atheists too.

I have my laptop and TV right in front of me, as I did on October 14th.
McCain just won Texas, no surprise there.
CNN: McCain advisors see no path to victory for their candidate now.
How can they possibly have declared Utah for McCain when Obama is leading?

Could be over 270 by the time the polls close in California, but still very close in NC where McCain has pulled ahead by 2500 votes or so. Don't know why they haven't called Colorado yet, but New Mexico has been called for Obama. Indiana still possible but the gap is widening.

same way they declare New Mexico for Obama when McCain is leading
exit polls
Come on Virginia and North Carolina. You can do it...
I would very much like to see a couple of those red states flip, even though they aren't needed for a win.

A lot of it is based on exit polls and camparing whatever polls report early to their results at the same poll last time.
Al Franken is still battling away with a 4% lead. I think it will a long time before that race is declared.
Florida and Virginia looking good.

yes, that one should definately be called. I am also surprised they have yet call SD and Arizona for McCain.

Obama is leadinng in New Mexico, moreover with 9 million new/first time voters registered, I do not think a compare to the results last time dsfa.
McCain is starting to catch up and Obama has not moved off of the 207 for a long time now.
What is predicted for CA?
Obama with an early (small) lead in Montana. Clinton took it in '92, otherwise it has been Republican for decades.
Also for the first time tonight it looks like Obama could take Missouri.
[ 04 November 2008: Message edited by: Trevormkidd ]
They do that to make for more interesting television.
Obama now ahead in Indiana! California will not go Republican.
virginia just calld for Obama
California will go Dem
game set match
Interesting is how close actual votes are. While Obama is cleaning up on electoral college his mandate from real people is still small
thought he would be a good 8-10 points up
CNN and NBC just called the race for Obama
Holy moley, that is a huge crowd in Chicago. HUGE!
Just watching CNN and they're showing everyone going nutz and panning over the massive throngs of people.
Yup. CNN: "Obama elected President."
Back in front in NC.
Most importantly, Jon Stewart has called it for Obama.
Spoke too soon. But it's very close.

Oh they are too funny, eh!
finally Martin Luther King jr and Bobby Kennedy can rest in peace. Their mission has been accomplished.

I think he still will be. Lots of votes to come in in blue states.
And i think he'll get Missouri, the St Louis polls will be coming in towards the end.
I wish Obama would say tonight "Our long national nightmare (meaning George Bush) is finally over".
