Zeitgeist Addendum

I am interested in what people think of this Movie.

For me the issue of the differences between a monetary system, and a resource based system. The Resource Based system was held in my mind much more relevant to the way the world should be going. If your of an opposing opinion why would you think the monetary system is good over the resource based one?

OFFICIAL ZEITGEIST ADDENDUM TORRENT NOW AVAILABLE

Here is a statement from their site.

Welcome to the Official Site for 'Zeitgeist, the Movie' (2007) & its sequel 'Zeitgeist: Addendum' (2008). Since the emergence of the project in late June, 2007, many other websites, organizations and posts have fallaciously claimed connections to the works. Please note that these two productions are our only media expressions.

Likewise, Zeitgeistmovie.com and its developing activist site:TheZeitgeistMovement.com are the only web entities we have produced.

'Zeitgeist, The Movie' and 'Zeitgeist: Addendum' were created as Not-for-Profit expressions to communicate what the author felt were highly important social understandings which most humans are generally not aware of. The first film focuses on suppressed historical & modern information about currently dominant social institutions, while also exploring what could be in store for humanity if the power structures at large continue their patterns of self-interest, corruption, and consolidation.

The second film, Zeitgeist: Addendum, attempts to locate the root causes of this pervasive social corruption, while offering a solution. This solution is not based on politics, morality, laws, or any other "establishment" notions of human affairs, but rather on a modern, non-superstitious based understanding of what we are and how we align with nature, to which we are a part. The work advocates a new social system which is updated to present day knowledge, highly influenced by the life long work of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project.

I am not after encouraging sheep but of opening the door to a creative faucet of experience that is promoted to one of sharing and not one that caters to fear.

The first Zeitgeist was so poorly done that i probably won't bother watching this one.

I agree the format was poorly done, yet,  I would ask that one look at what the message is before judging the book by it's cover.

Note: Post thread opener with a Youtube connection update.

The economy needs to be looked at under a "different light" in order that we see what has happened. So that we may free ourselves from the illusions we have fallen under. I am not advocating cultish idealizations here but a truthful look at what we can do to change the way we want this planet to go.

How can I edit original to reflect the quote of info from their site?

In order to understand the need for activitism in this context it is important that the mechanisms of current ideologies be understood. What has happened and what shall evolve in the future.

These will be brought up under another topic for consideration to help with the determination and hopefully help to further elucidate the need for change in this respect.

It goes across all borders of countries in terms of the necessity of recognition.

I've done some checking and I can't find any background information on the film's author, who I understand to be Alex Jones. Who is he, and why is he doing this? how do I know he's not using the same sort of manipulative techniques that those in power use?

I haven't seen either film, but I'd like to just to know what it's about.

Zeitgeist ist "time ghost" auf Deutsch, ja!

Quote:
A moment should be spent at the online home of Zeitgeist itself. While it would come across as tinfoil hat paranoia, there's been an interesting development on the website. As of Mar. 11 2008, a small subsection of the website has been completely scrubbed from the site. This section, the "clarifications" section, alludes to dishonest filmmaking tactics that would otherwise help to discredit the film. Instead, a self-righteous Q&A section that attempts to smack down its critics has replaced it. Thanks to the wonders of Archive.org and its Wayback Machine, though, anyone can read the clarifications with just a few meandering clicks!

Why is this important? The closer it comes to Z-Day, the more willing they are to gloss over inconvenient facts. For instance, video footage from the Madrid bombings of 2004 is used during a discussion of the London bombings of 2005, the implication being that the footage is from the actual bombings in London. It's deceptive filmmaking pure and simple and no manner of self-righteous explanation can disregard the simple fact: it's an out and out lie, "creative example" be damned. For a film that rails against deception, there's a lot of deception implicit in its creation.

There isn't a degree of self-righteousness to the film, as in any film that tries to use activism to get its message across. It starts off with a two-minute montage of bombings set to thunderously loud and ponderous music to set the mood of chaos, alternating with a quiet and sombre score to show human life and creativity. Then, the thematic image takes to the screen: the world in a cage. Despite the heavy-handedness of the metaphor, that's what the film is trying to show: through religion, the American government's lies or outright complicity in the 9/11 attacks, other "false flag" attacks and the economy that's run by an elitist caste of bankers, we're being controlled and are trapped in a cage that prevents us from being free.

The film first discusses religion. It takes the tack of using an historical Jesus argument and tries to tie it in with Horus, Buddha, and other religious figures with the common thread of a "sun god." While there are similarities, the way the film presents the relation is too straightforward. This is the common problem in the film: presenting something in such a shallow manner without further corroboration or scholarly evidence. It distils years of advanced scholarly work into a pithy little comparison and doesn't explore the examples, the greater historical contexts and the complicated realities into something approaching "Horus and Jesus come from the same place." In the world of a spectrum of greys, the film argues everything in black-and-white, which isn't surprising when the second part of the film hits the screen.

Use your noodle and think!

I never did like the format of the addendum, nor did I see the first edition. Something to pay attention too,  then I guess.

Then,  one should not to be overtaken by a religion of any kind in our aassement, but to look at the hard facts of the economics and its mechancial interpretations now used in society. "Hand written" by decisive banking interests that have a long history.

How many billion and who profits from "the interest?" It's a question.
Not to forget to mention about the "devaluation of the dollar." See:
Creating Something out of Nothing

What if held in consideration of the coalition now, since, I already asked in relation to labour?  Have corporations gone to far to meddle in a employees life, while we want only to exchange a wage for our labour. Who are we stimulating?

So before the stimulas is granted how shall the economic package  be devied and what conditions applied for recieving this aid?  Workers having been laid off, what help shall they recieve?

Hmmm..... it 's a question?

I haven't seen either film, but I'd like to just to know what it's about.

Alex Jones is a "libertarian" radio show host that endorses all manner of conspiracy theory about the Illuminati. Not to be trusted.

The producer of the Zeitgeist films is Peter Joseph Merola, an advertiser/musician/activist. The latest Zeitgeist Film, Moving Forward, is a more comprehensive analysis of the fallacies inherent in the monetary (barter) system. The previous Zeitgeist films were amateur and prematurely conceived. After following the movement for a while, I attribute this to Peter Joseph's continuous learning process, as it seems he was the sole creator of The Zeitgeist Movement. It speaks well of TZM that they haven't removed the previous incarnations of the Zeitgeist films, so that supporters can see the refinement of ideas.

He dispels claims that he is the leader of the movement, and despite being the de facto figurehead, I've interacted with enough TZM supporters to know that his word is by no means law. TZM is not a political party or even a political movement. It is a challenge to us to reconsider the way we currently run the world economy. It is more inclusive than certain "-isms" (capitalism, socialism, communism, fascism, etc.) in that it continually evolves to accept and promote new and novel ideas to advance the cause of human progress. Fundamentally, its message is simple: A barter system relies on competition, which will always leave someone wanting. To truly create a world where everyone is born equal, not just in writing, we have to adapt an economic model that allows an equal distribution of resources. If everyone is satisfied, nobody will be left wanting; greed will cease to exist.

A new Zeitgeist film is expected to be released in late 2012 or early 2013.

@Spectrum

I believe many people dismiss the philosophy of TZM out of hand because it's misconstrued as "utopian" and "idealistic". I was the same at first, despite being a self-described Marxist. Upon further review, I believe that the Resource-Based-Economy promoted through TZM and The Venus Project is just a more benign form of socialism. There is no class struggle. The Earth is redefined as a common heritage for every single person, who is entitled to its gifts.

If you're interested, there are Z Days planned for around the world through which TZM hopes to spread its message by celebrating the idea of a RBE.

SknguyII has a post that raises some question about the way we handle economy as to changes and methods.....some how this raised in mind the idea of the Gold economy.

This seems a very unsettling time for me in terms of what I see transpiring.....Greece, Ireland and countries in debt problems and EU.  Our own country Canada with an inflation rate of 3.7 lead by oil and food. Time to raise the rates? What, so people will spend more on gas? Things are getting goddam ridiculous.

So the idea of an economy adjustment is more then what's in place now so I was looking at what is being proposed by our own economists. I am not a expert but I am listening.

The economic crisis has to be stabilized immediately. This has to be carried out pragmatically, without undue ideology, and without reliance on the failed ideas and assumptions which led to the crisis. Complexity science can help here. For example, it is wrong to speak of "restoring the markets to equilibrium", because the markets have never been in equilibrium. We are already way ahead if we speak of "restoring the markets to a stable, self-organized critical state."

In the near-term, Eric Weinstein has spoken about an "economic Manhattan project". This means getting a group of good scientists together, some who know a lot about economics and finance, and others, who have proved themselves in other areas of science but bring fresh minds and perspectives to the challenge, to focus on developing a scientific conceptualization of economic theory and modeling that is reliable enough to be called a science.CAN SCIENCE HELP SOLVE THE ECONOMIC CRISIS?

The Economic Crisis and its Implications for The Science of Economics.

May 1 - 4, 2009
Perimeter Institute

Concerns over the current financial situation are giving rise to a need to evaluate the very mathematics that underpins economics as a predictive and descriptive science. A growing desire to examine economics through the lens of diverse scientific methodologies - including physics and complex systems - is making way to a meeting of leading economists and theorists of finance together with physicists, mathematicians, biologists and computer scientists in an effort to evaluate current theories of markets and identify key issues that can motivate new directions for research. Perimeter Institute was suggested to be the gathering point and conference organizers plan to foster a very careful, dispassionate discussion, in an atmosphere governed by the modesty and open mindedness that characterizes the scientific community.

The conference will begin on May 1, 2009, with a day of talks by leading experts to an invited audience on the status of economic and financial theory in light of the current situation. Three days of private, focused discussions and workshops will ensue, aimed at addressing complex questions and defining future research agendas for the world that can help address and resolve them.
