This article/statement was published in the UK Independent today:
"I write this article to Western readers across the social and political
spectrum as the Israeli war machine continues to massacre my people in
Gaza. To date, almost 1,000 have been killed, nearly half of whom are
women and children. Last week's bombing of the UNRWA (UN Relief Works
Agency) school in the Jabalya refugee camp was one of the most
despicable crimes imaginable, as hundreds of civilians had abandoned
their homes and sought refuge with the international agency only to be
mercilessly shelled and bombed by Israel. Forty-six children and women
were killed in that heinous attack while scores were injured..."
Now that is leadership. Some Canadian politicians could learn a thing or two about leadership from reading that letter. Let's hope they do.
Unfortunately our leadership is AWOL at the moment. Ship without a rudder and guided by stale cold air wafting over the border from Warshington.
Jack Layton would do well to recast that letter and issue it as a statement.
I'm satisfied with Layton's statement. Israel is not the largest source of terrorism in the world. We know who is though. Harper is a vicious toady to any and all US-backed terrorism around the world and wants giving the heave-ho asap. Besides having dictatorial tendencies, Harper is an embarrassment for Canadians.
Well obviously, when talking about leadership, we are not really talking about the NDP, and in this I can say that I too am satisfied with Jack's statement on this issue, since it is entirely in keeping with the service I have come to expect from that source.
I moved on to a different supplier, long ago: myself. I now am almost entirely self reliand and depend on my own efforts, without the aid of an organization to sanction my views.
So what youre saying is that on the one day every four years that actually counts, you didnt cast so much as a protest vote against any of this vicious toadying to US empire and its proxy terrorists.

Since our Federal leadership seems to on an extended break, maybe we should print an election ballot. Scratch out the names of our absent leaders, replace them with Stockholm, Fidel, Cueball, lagatta and rural - francesca, throw in Michelle as the house speaker, and we will have a far more interesting house.
A few 100,000 of those in elections Canada mailbox should do the trick.
I protest each and every election that comes along. I refuse to let some large minority of Canadians speak for me on election day. Democracy has to come first before anything can be done about Ottawa's vicious toadying to US empire or its frontline states prosecuting the war of terror on democracy
