Furthermore, let's not forget that both the German blitzkrieg and
the Allied carpet bombings were made possible by the international
community's failure to act when Spain (particularly Gernika) and
Nanking were demolished - that inaction was proof that subsequent and
even worse attacks could be conducted with impunity.
<>Israel's
attacks on Gaza and Lebanon follow in that same historical trajectory,
right on the heels of the US in Fallujah and Baghdad (and let's not
forget Desert Storm, with the cold-blooded murder under the
leadership of Colin Powell et al. of thousands of retreating Iraqi
soldiers, followed by the "precision-bombing" of congested population
centres). Or Afghanistan, both by the US and the USSR. Or the
allied bombing of Belgrade.
