Let Them Stay week Tuesday: express your outrage.

Resister Chris Teske ordered deported today.

With a sopping wet heart, I regret to inform you all that last night, Chris Teske (from BC) was unable to get a stay of his deportation order through the Federal Court.

This means he has been ordered to leave the country TODAY or be forcibly removed by our immigration government.

So what am I asking you to do, dear friends. Get angry. And see your anger as a gift to Chris and the other war resisters who are in the precarious position of deportation themselves.

Teske was the first of five Federal Court decisions the war resister campaign is expecting from now until the end of the month.

They include:

January 22 - Cliff Cornell

January 27 -Kimberly Rivera, her husband Mario and three children

January 29 - Patrick Hart, his wife Jill and their son

January 30 - Dean Walcott

So please, act upon your anger and outrage as a positive force for change. Please write our MPS and send letters to the editors of your local paper.

The time to act is now. Please.

Salut everyone, First things first, we have heard that Chris Teske – who was supposed to be deported today – has been given a reprieve until Friday by the Canadian Border Service Agency.

This gives us a bit of time to rally support and contact our local newspaper and our MPs to voice of outrage at Chris’ deportation and the impending deportations of others. But time is of the essence, we have to act now.

Yes, Obama has just been sworn in as President of the United States, but it is very doubtful that Obama’s first act will be to end the war in Iraq and issue a pardon for all conscience objectors, where ever they may be living.

That said, it is important that we – Canadians who value dignity and peace and justice – stand in support of Iraq war resisters, stand side by side to support their tough but right decision to resist militarism and the unjust war in Iraq.

Along with Chris Teske, these resisters are facing deportation soon…

January 22 - Cliff Cornell

…But not “just” others, Chris and Cliff and Kim and Patrick and Dean are real people, Americans who have been living in Canada and contributing to their communities. Patrick and Kim have families, as do other war resisters currently living here.

To send them back to the US means abandoning them to the US military judicial system, where they will be punished for their principles and their decisions not to fight in Iraq.

Canada has a precedent in regards to supporting war resisters and other Americans who were resisting the actions of their government, including United Empire Loyalists, the Underground Railroad, Civil War soldiers and of course, Vietnam.

So please, contact your local papers and email/call your MP, Harper, Iggy, Layton… When you write and call these politicians, it affirms to them that there is groundswell support for war resisters and pushes the issue to the forefront of their minds.

This is extremely crucial at this point in the campaign to stop the deportation of Chris Teske and others. Check here to see a list of events happening in your city. Hooray! You guys are not legitimate refugees! Go home, take your punishment like men, and then if you still want to live in Canada, apply to immigrate like any other person. It sickens me to see young guys, who come from one of the greatest countries on earth, sitting around on welfare in Canada, sponging off hard working Canadians. There are real refugees in this world who desperately need our help, yet our courts and immigration officials are tied up dealing with your cases. Shame on you. Canada needs to grow some balls, load you all onto buses, and ship you back to the states. BTW, the majority of Canadians share this sentiment. We don't want you here - go home!

He's right. Deserters aren't refugees. I wouldn't want to go to Iraq either, but if I decided not to go, I would go back to the states and take my punishment. Running away to canada is the coward's way out. Not the kind of people we need in this country. Let's help real refugees, not a bunch of loser who probably sit around smoking pot all day, living off of social assistance. There are thousands of real refugees in Somalia and Ethopia who are going to die if we don't help them. Oh but wait, poor Chris and Cliff and Kimberley are tying up our immigration officials with their nonsensical refugee claims. If just one child dies because you losers are slowing down the process, you have blood on your hands. What do you think about that Michelle? I look at a picture of Robin Long, and all I see is a smiley faced, middle class white boy who don't look like he's gone hungry a day in his life. That boy ain't no refugee. I wish I could post some photos of starving children in Africa to show you what a real refugee looks like. Props to Canada for sending these boys back. You owe a debt to America, and now it's time to pay up.
