Mr. Fishy

These guys could find wood elsewhere along the Fraser to cook?  They had to destroy a bridge as opposed to some drug den?

Since Mr Fishy is banned, highryder, what's the point of this news item? To show how quickly public city officials can make changes when it's an issue that "really matters" (a bridge for cars that carries communters) rather than actually dealing with the issue of homelessness?

With the upcoming 2010 festival of gross extravagance coming up in Vancouver, I'm looking at all news articles about homeless and poor people with a critical lens, given that the themes of most of them is to demonize the poor.

I'm thinking the same...perhaps we should read the Chinese media too, I recall during the Beijing Olympics when our MSM was having a field-day demonizing China some Chinese media raised homelessness in Vancouver specifically and promised to keep it in the spotlight as the Vancouver Olympics approach.
