Hmm...I can't find any of the editing tools when composing a message...but I love the look, and the fact that we have profile pages again!
Well?? What do you think??
Is the font larger? or is it just me? looks different in the box here too. Wait, let me get my glasses.....
It's better. Maybe even smoother. You can now copy material in the first comment box, and don't have to go to the rich text disabled format to copy and paste stuff. This is a good thing.
However no tools either, which might not be so good for people who are not HTML functional.
Nice san sarif font too.
Yeah. I think that's the old font and size from the old board, isn't it?
I like it, thanks.
I don't think TP was a machine, Cueball supreme or Michelle was a rabble-rouser-for-life before. I really appreciate the font improvement.
I think it takes UBB tags...but I'm also kind of surprised that there are no formatting tools. Of course, there wasn't much in the way of formatting tools on the old babble either, except for quoting, bold, and italics, from what I can remember.
URLs are going to be a problem, though, unless we get some sort of a link function. I think it's just a glitch though - I got an e-mail three seconds ago from our tech guy who noticed what I wrote in this thread. I just sent him a screen shot of the comment window.
And yeah, it looks SO much better, gorgeous font and nice and big, like the old font was. :)
I took a look at the profile pages of the posters on this thread and it seems by default all PM's are blocked.

Yes, should get rid of the graded membership tags, and instead allow user defined tags.
Hmmm,...
I just noticed that my email was public. I don't ever recall making it so with the old babble, so I don't know why it was listed as such on my page.
I'd suggest everyone check theirs to make sure it's set correctly.
Oh hey, I've got editing tools now. How about the rest of you?
Also, I'm having a hard time changing my account details. I changed my picture once, but I've changed my mind and want a new picture, but it won't let me change it again.
I guess it's going to take some time to work out a few bugs. It was all working great in development, so must be something in the transfer. There will be a bit of glitch-fixing happening in the next couple of days, most likely.
Oh my god, seriously, people's e-mails are public?? ACK.
Yes they are back. This is good.
ETA: Yes the emails are public. Serves people right for not giving false information on their registration to political web sites... who does that anyway?
Yup, I just removed mine. On the other hand, my tools are gone.
Where are the emai addresses located at? As I can't find a spot where mine would be?
I have tools but no status whatever that means.
And I love the look.
Also some problems changing the avatars for your profile. Obviously the monkey had to go. So I changed it to some random picture, which worked. Decided I didn't like that picture and tried to change it to something that I liked. At first it didn't work, so I deleted the picture and got the monkey back, then I tried to upload the new picture I wanted, but instead of that picture I got the random picture I had selected to test the function the first time, and not the new picture I wanted.
I've removed mine, but it keeps coming back.
Where do you find that it's public?
Found it. Under "My Account" then the "Edit" tab and then under that "Personal Information" I didn't have one listed.
I've removed mine, but it keeps coming back.
Uploaded information seems to become the default which is reset everytime the profile is edited.
I had to enter a "parental email" before the software would allow me to remove the public email. That's messed up.
In the "edit" tab in your profile, there is a sub heading for "personal information". One of the fields is "public email", which wouldn't allow me to delete.
The format seems to keep changing ...
Jingles, I just removed your e-mail address and it doesn't seem to be coming back.
Here's the issue. On the old babble, you could choose whether to make your e-mail address public or not when you were signing up. It was a field you could toggle on or off at any time in your profile.
But we had the overall board settings done so that no one's e-mails would show up, even if they chose to make them public.
So anyone who had that field checked off, even inadvertently, had that setting brought over to the new babble software.
If you want to turn it off, here's what to do:
1. Click on your name, which takes you to your profile.
2. Choose the "Edit" tab at the top, next to the "View" tab (which is the default)
3. Under the "Edit" tab, you'll see two phrases: "Account Information" and "Personal Settings". Click on "Personal Settings".
4. Scroll down and you'll find a field called "Public e-mail address". If your e-mail address is in that field, remove it.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the "submit" button to save the changes.
They fixed the COPA parental e-mail requirement - that was another glitch - it seemed to be recognizing all of us as under 13!
Yes, I think we figured this much out, but it seems that the old information, or the first information uploaded is set as the default which the software returns to whenever the profile is edited. And so what you don't want reappears.
Really? That's odd - I just checked Jingles again and it seems to still be gone...
Well, I can't change the original picture I chose for an avatar, and when I do try, it returns to the first I uploaded.
It would not let me delete my email address said it was required, but if your email is under, your own edit profile no one should see it publically anyway
Better.
Great point remind, I can't seem to see it on anyone's profiles.
I had to give myself parental permission which was a bit weird having been an orphan for almost 35 years. Haven't forged a note from my mom since high school.
Okay, just so people know, it's not the e-mail address on the FIRST edit page that shows up that you have to change. That's the one that you have to have in order to have an account on babble.
You have to click on "Personal Information" under the tabs, and then change the "Public e-mail address" field there in order to change it.
No one should have to give themselves "parental permission" now - our tech guy told me he fixed that. Is anyone still being told they have to put in their parents' e-mail address in order to change their personal information?
Can't change profile picture. Not critical though. Something that might be worked on.
It's different, but I like it. The bigger font is fab.
What does it mean that it says I have no status?
And what's with the line under the comment box, what goes in there?
???
Oooh! It brings back your toolbox, thats what it does. Thanks!
What does it mean that it says I have no status?
You need a Treaty Card to babbulate?
I have a place in my profile to include my "Hompeage." Isn't that some kinda trap?
TEST TEST testes (tee hee)
what's that anchor thingy?
And the colours still wont translate into the posted post for me
Um, vagina?
Oldgoat, I call thread drift! And you started it!
Hey hey, now wait a sec. I can do links!
Wahoo!!!
Edited to add, and woooo, they're in red. Sassy!
Edited to add again: my link doesn't work.
Mine does
omg!
oldgoat, why do you have a small square and an even smaller person's head under "Joined Jul 27 2001"?
Also, damn you and your functional links!
Do people know that whatever info they put about themselves is public?

Ahh. That is what that is. A head. I thought I was in need of cleaning my screen.
So far FM is the only one I see with a "Contact User" envelope under their joined.
And Maysie that thing is to send a PM, scroll over it.

a'cause,.. That's how you send me a private message. I see the same symbol in everyones except my own, presumable because I've put myself on my own ignore list. Wise, I should think.
Oh, Boom Boom has it too. No wonder he's the DJ. Sociable folk.
Looks great! (but the strikeout function doesn't work)
[QUOTE] Hey hey, now wait a sec. I can do links!

'twould seem not. (sardonic smiley)
Thanks RP and OG. Funny, when I asked the question, I only saw that icon on oldgoat's posts.
Maybe we can't see the icon on our own posts to prevent us from talking to ourselves. Damn babble restricting my freedom once again!
I wonder if my link problem is still about my Mac scenario. Sigh. I'll never post cool links.
Okay, I filled out my profile. How come it has AIM and ICQ for IMs but nothing anyone actually uses?
