PR spin: US calls its own client, Jundallah, "terrorists".

Spin City:  US calls its own client, Jundallah, "terrorists".

Follow up to the May 30, 2009 mosque bomb blast in the Iranian city of Zahedan durring a ceremony marking the death of the daughter of Muhammed. It killed 25 and injured 125.

from UPI:

Quote:
The Sunni militant group Jundallah claimed responsibility for the attack, with a spokesman telling Saudi-owned TV channel Al-Arabiya the bomber was targeting a high-level meeting of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards being held inside, the British broadcaster said.

White House condemns 'terrorist attacks' against Iran
Sat, 30 May 2009 16:19:49 GMT

The White House has denounced the "terrorist attacks" in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan which resulted in the deaths of 25 people.

"The United States strongly condemns the recent terrorist attacks inside Iran," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement on Friday.
....
Reports suggest that the US State Department is considering placing the shadowy anti-Iranian militant group on its terrorism list.

The process may, however, prove to be impossible since to make the list, a group must "threaten the security" of US citizens or the defense, foreign relations, or economic interests of the United States.

Meanwhile, Jundallah (Soldiers of Allah) which has Al Qeada links is financed and extolled by the US for its attacks on Iran.
Juddallah leader, Abdolmalek Rigi, was introduced  "on the Iranian branch of the Voice of America, the official broadcasting service of the United States government... as "the leader of popular Iranian resistance movement".

The US funding connections are cited from the following entry which includes:

Quote:

ABC news reported in April 2007, citing US and Pakistani intelligence sources, that the terrorist group "has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials" to destabilize the government in Iran.[10] ..
...Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh revealed another report in July 2008 that US congressional leaders had secretly agreed to former president George W. Bush's USD 400 million funding request, which gives the US a free hand in arming and funding terrorist groups such as Jundullah militants.[20]

Since GW Bush is no longer a head of state, I'm shocked, shocked, Jason Kenny didn't stop that funder of terrorists from entering this pure nation (but of course it wasn't a deadly convoy of aid and medical supplies to war victims).
Also terribly surpising, this US-sponsored "resistence movement" isn't on Canada's  "listed entities" (proscribed terrorist groups) either.

"The process may, however, prove to be impossible since to make the list, a group must "threaten the security" of US citizens or the defense, foreign relations, or economic interests of the United States."

I find this surprising given that the US has listed several groups as terrorists, even though they don't directly threaten US citizens etc.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Sinn Fein etc.

But we all know that the US use of the term terrorism, really means anyone who uses violence against American interests.

Those that use violence towards furthering American interests are A-OK - such as attacks on Cuba etc.
