Read it all right there, if you can stand to.

Unbelievable!

Quote:

Williams and States took turns referring to gender dysphoric children as "idiots" and "freaks," who were just out "for attention" and had "a mental disorder that just needs to somehow be gotten out of them," either by verbal abuse on the part of the parents, or even shock therapy.

"Allowing transgenders to exist, pretty soon it becomes normal to fall in love with the animals," they said.

For his part, States bragged that if his own son were to ever dare put on a pair of high heels, States would beat his son with one of his own shoes. He urged parents whose own little boys expressed a desire to wear a dress to verbally abuse and degrade them as a viable response. "Because you know what? Boys don't wear high heel shoes. And in my house, they definitely don't wear high heels.

"I'm going to go, 'You know what? You're a little idiot! You little dumbass!'" States sneered, adding later, "I look forward to when [the transgender children] go out into society and society beats them down. And they wind up in therapy."

Sadly, this type of inciting of hatred is allowed in the US. I will never visit that country again. I do not believe for a second that America has changed.

Vile hatred. It's amazing what stunned idiot white men (and a token white woman) get paid to do.

I just popped onto YouTube in which an entire segment on the Rob Arnie and Dawn show was given over to the news that some fried chicken restaurant which was supposed to open that day, was going to be opened the next week, and how upset one of the men was over this. They aren't deep thinkers, but even so, I want to look at this line, which has grabbed me:

Quote:
Boys don't wear high heel shoes. And in my house, they definitely don't wear high heels.

The second sentence belies the first, acknowledging that, in fact, some boys do "wear high heels", if "wear high heels" is a stand in for "behave in ways that are non-conforming to gendered masculinity".

On a purely academic level, the entire segment is a statement of the certainty of the existence of healthy, non-fucked up, transgender adults. This is what the DJs hate, that somehow despite the transphobia and trans hatred, it is possible to survive and become a happy adult. That must clearly be part of what makes them so angry. Surely they understand that nobody in the general public needs to be incited to despise trans people, systemic oppression has taken care of that.

Or.

Since we know, for example, the most vocal vile homophobes are the ones who have repressed homoerotic attraction, because why else would they spend so much time and energy, there's a parallel here. In this case, maybe this was just one show, maybe it was just a juvenile exercise in "do an easy show by foaming at the mouth about something that we know our idiot listeners will agree with". Maybe.

Whatever. They should be removed from the airwaves (although they won't be). The most that we may get is a "sorry we offended some people" bullshit.

Sickening and these DJ's, and those who allowed them to utter such hate unchallenged, will be complicit in any actions taken against transgendered people.

In fact, the DJ's and those who heard it and left it unchallenged are the truly sick asshats.

Michelle

They do have incitement laws there, right?  If you specifically tell people to go and beat transgendered children, isn't that incitement?

As for the most homophobic people having repressed homoerotic attraction - I've heard that before, but I'm not sure I buy it.  I think it's quite possible to be quite far towards the "hetero" end of the spectrum and still be really, really homophobic.

That's thread drift anyways, and I meant that as an example. It's not a likely in this case. Probably.

Back to the topic, I don't think they have incitement laws in the ways that you mean, Michelle. In this Rachel Maddow link that I posted in the Dr. Tiller thread, she interviewed a dude who said that their First Amendment rights cover, in fact, the right to say "go kill all the xyz people".

One more reason the US is a scary place.

More likely, they'll say it as "we're sorry that some of THE LIBRUL media got offended".

Is someone going to action this down there, does anyone know?
