NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — Police in Newark, Ohio, have arrested a 15-year-old girl on juvenile child pornography charges for allegedly sending nude cell phone photos of herself to classmates.

The girl was arrested Friday and held over the weekend. Her defense filed denials in court Monday.

Police did not identify the girl by name and prosecutors promised a statement with details later Wednesday. Authorities were also considering charges for students who received the photos.

Now there's a new one. Instead of requiring the girl to do something like write lines or an essay on "Why sending nudes of yourself to someone else is a bad idea", charge 'er, and lock 'er up and get all her friends too! Woohoo, law and order, makin' sure those juvie delinquents get some good ol' jail time.

There's reasons why we quit executing young people who stole things and one of them is that young people don't always exercise the best judgement.

wtf This is called ruinin someone's life and how do you charge that if it sent to all ppl her age. This is retarded and should never happen I hope the charges are dropped and the cops and teachers who called the cops get a psyco assesment.

roboticism

Charging her for child pornography is a little extreme

Indecent exposure, maybe.

And as for charging  those she sent the images to, they have no control over that. SHE sent the images to THEM, whether or not they wanted or asked for them. This part reminds me of a story I heard a while ago about a mother sueing a cell phone application company for sending her daughter multiple messages dispite the fact that she tried to cancel her account (unfortunately I never heard the outcome).

But I digress, basically, charging someone for something they have absolutely no control over is unfair and only sends a(nother) negative message about police/law enforcement.

"This is retarded"

Rexdale - I know this might be common venacular for you - but it really a very hurtful and just plain wrong word to use.

It was a term to describe people with developmental issues that than became slang for anything or anyone who was 'stupid'. If I could politely ask - please don't use the phrase anymore.

What does that mean.

retarded is a very hurtful word.  Personally I think you get far too much slack in the use of terms you choose to post with.
