I went to see Candida at the Fringe Festival on opening night, and it was AMAZING. I loved it.

You, too, can go see Candida. And if you're the first person to send me a private message on babble you can go for free, along with a friend, on any night it's showing. :) (No e-mails - private messages only, please, this is only open to registered babble members - we have two free tickets to give away.)

i dont even know cuz like idk if me or my girl would like it I tried googling it but only some yeast infection thing came up lol ill ask her if she wanna go cuz we were gonna do something on da weekend anyway u know ma has summer school LOL

The play is set in the north-east suburbs of London in the month of October. It tells the story of Candida, the wife of a first-rate clergyman, the Reverend James Mavor Morell. Morell is a Christian Socialist, popular in the Church of England, but Candida is responsible for much of his success. Candida returns home briefly from a trip to London with Eugene Marchbanks, a young poet who wants to rescue her from what he presumes to be her dull family life. Marchbanks is in love with Candida and believes she deserves something more than just complacency from her husband. He considers her divine, and his love eternal. In his view, it is quite improper and humiliating for Candida to have to attend to petty household chores. Morell believes Candida needs his care and protection, but the truth is quite the contrary. Ultimately, Candida must choose between the two gentlemen and she reasserts her preference for Morell, the "weaker of the two."
The character of Mr Burgess, Candida's father, an unrepentant capitalist, adds humour to the play.

Okay, Michelle. I took a fair number of drama courses and used to read a lot of plys so my inclination is usually to read the play before i see it. What should I edit out to make it not a spoiler?

Oh, doesn't matter, really, people can find out if they really want to anyhow. :) I'd not have included which man she chooses in the end, though. :)

R_P, it's a funny play and quite accessible - I hated Shakespeare in school and couldn't abide watching plays in Ye Olde English. Could never figure out what the heck they were saying.

But this one is in plain English (with only a few older turns of phrase, but nothing that can't be understood) and it's really good.
