Green Party supporters: What would other parties have to do to convince you you didn't need to keep your party going?

You spent thirty years in the NDP?  Somehow I don't think so but never mind.

sway

Actually longer

I was working on campaigns for postal union family members....as a child as well

I only counted voter age years.

Now getting over your disbelief ....what say you about maybe joining us Greens instead of staying with the soon to be irrelevant ndp ?

What would it take for you wise men to see your parties do not represent you nor the will of the people?

We have 13% of the population running government and ruining this great country ...lieyton and iggy helped big time.

I would vote for Mr Dueceppe before this jacky !!

This thread is backwards as we are the only party with momentum in all fact!

Cheers

Why do you call him "lieyton"?  Do you actually have any examples of the man being personally dishonest?

I can now see that this  is something personal with you.

The Cons are not my second choice party, smalltownguy, so a better question, for me, would be "What would the Greens have to do to get me back from the NDP?"

They'd have to...

1. Get one or two Suzukis to run. And have 10 or 20 amazing candidates in other ridings.
2. Elizabeth May would have to be a better politician. I honestly can't understand why she likes the Liberals so much when they've failed Canada. And Green activists are rightly pissed off when she says contradictory things about strategic voting one day to the next. She needs to speak clearly and stick to one story.
3. Decide they support the Global Green Charter and then vet their candidates carefully so that everyone understands what policy is, what a platform is, and that capitalism needs strict oversight and consumerism needs to be severely curtailed if humankind is going to approach sustainability.
4. Stop attacking the NDP. You want to be number 1 in my heart? Stop attacking your allies, and focus on your common enemy: Harper and Ignatieff. I know lots of Greens feel NDPers are overly sensitive to May's attacks on Layton, but for a leftist, her attacks seem misplaced and the edge in her voice whenever she talks about the NDP just pisses me off. The Greens want my vote? Attack the Liberals and Tories - they're the ones (federally) who should be ashamed of their record. Federally, the NDP has put forward some good stuff.

Perfectly understandable summary to me.  Even I might consider going Green oneday if I saw less a sense of entitlement and more concern for the myriad of environmental issues, within the wider context of runaway corporatism, something beyond the one slightly self-interested focus on shifting taxation from income and property to consumption.  A consumption tax ontop of others and directed towards local businesses who could do something with it would be ok with me.   If you have any ideas how an NDParty could secure your support Re the environment I'd be interested in seeing that too.  This is one large issue that won't disappear, even in a recession.

For the greens to sway members of the NDP they would obviously have to embrace all the NDP policy's and the same if the NDP wanted the Greens. The liberals and conservatives do it all the time. They will even adopt an NDP one if it means votes.

I would like to see the NDP at least rule the country once before the Greens do however ,so the thread should be the other way around. As it is right now the Greens are fragmenting the left so bad it will be nearly impossible for either a Green or NDP to even form a minority. I think even the Liberal left has suffered from this.

This is the biggest problem in Canada politically right now ..there is hard core right..a wishy washy right left can't make up it's mind and 2 lefts. Who wins ...the right. Things are so desperate and split up , the word coalition is a necessity, even if it means joining separatists oh wait ..there not separatists now ....see.

If the Greens really wanted to make a difference they would recognize this problem and do the right thing . As they aren't doing the right thing one really has to question their purpose. Undermining and fragmenting the left so the right always has the power. So what will the Greens have to do to get NDP support ..it's simple ..join the NDP.

Ya the divisions are pretty deep on the left, even if we only take a more narrow definition of it.  But maybe with all the other leading parties shifting so hard to the right the field to the left is getting over-crowded now.

I think it is personal Ken,,, but I wasted too much time here before trading blows rather than talking to others who share my concerns so I'll leave it at that.

Sway, you'd have to offer up more than that to get me to change my mind.  I'm not entirely pleased with the NDParty right now either, as I've stated before, but I still end up defending them here more often than not thanks to the usual overreaction and inconsistency amongst the usual critics.    Maybe I'm just old fashioned politically, in the sense that I believe in trying to correct something before tossing it all aside, and I still think the NDP has done the most in practical terms for Canadians historically, is still the closest to breaking the Liberal-Conservative stranglehold, and still has the most members I can see eye to eye.   Building is just harder to do than trashing, maybe more so in politics than anywhere else.

Yes actually ....I do have proof...what of it?

And buddy kat .....oh yes please .....lets hear this vote splitting crap ...etc or spoilers...

I love it ....as where I come from thats just  called .....using my own vote.... as I please.

Yes the left is split ...so what ?

It will maybe wake the liberals up and then have them grow balls and then maybe destroy both us and the original vote splitters the ndp..........oh I see you forgot about that part of history .....did you?

Lieyton lied on drug reform ....personally.....he lied about the volenteering of a resignations from kirk tousaw and dana larsen as all of us know and heard it from both of them that  they would have been dumped had they not agreed easily.

Too much to type for you and I am allowed my views....

Just get jacky to call me and I will refresh his memory  personally...LOL

As I said he caused this...and he grew the Greens more in one year than we did in 25 before

if you all do not know that the crime and cannabis issues are that big .....you have not paid attention at all.

We are organized and ready to show it.

buddy cat you are only in the ndp  because of your friendship to larsen and your betrayal of the truth about who actually has drug reform policy...am I right or wrong?

Watch and wait fellas..... in the mean time you can explain why we went up 41 % anyway you want and I will just believe the truth the way I know it...but then I do more than sit on the internet pretending to be political and have about 20 elections under my belt so far  including 3 ndp nomination fights..... so go figure ..eh?

How many do you have?

We are not spoilers ....we are educators and know that only through discomfort can come change and improvement
Fire was invented because we were cold not because we had cigarettes...cupiche?

Get lieyton to find balls and credibility and we can embrace our brothers again....but no more free votes to non credible leaders..Green included!

No one was more broken hearted than I over lieytons back stepping...PERIOD !

Go watch him on pottv and listen to my own tape recordings as he says go get "grass roots support"

Go do what I and my team have and I know you would be just like us !

I am no bumpkin I have fought for peoples rights in many many ways...including recieving death threads for doing so and much more.

I am a military vet from the Canadian armed forces and much much more actually

My word means more than most peoples I know.

I too dream of a unified left but sadly based on the house records of voting that isnt the current ndp nor liberals

I said iggy is merely another american plant and that dion was sabatoged and the sheeple bought it all....do not forget dion only won because of the marijuana partys support according to papers...yes also david orchard was credited but we were the biggest group at the convention.

to me the whole thing is about two american horses in the race to rape our water resourses as they already have everything else.

we need iggy and lieyton gone ...probably may as well

then watch the left...I can not wait

just my 2 cents

Jack Layton was not involved at all in my resignation as an NDP candidate.

I wanted to talk to Jack but Gerry Scott (BC Campaign Coordinator) blocked that and pressured me very heavily to resign.

For better or for worse, Layton was not involved in this decision at all.
