U.S. releases the names of "terror suspects" held in secret Irak and Afghanistan jails

BBC story.

Maybe this ought to be in National news if Canadian soldiers have been part of this secret operation.

It's the best known "secret" around. A good DVD to watch on this subject is "Taxi to the Dark Side". In 2005, Gen. Rick Hillier (illegally) concluded a treaty with the Afghan government that Canadian Forces policy was to hand over its Afghan POWs to Afghan authorities, where it was (still is) known that they torture and abuse detainees.

In December 2007, when the press got hold of this story, an embarrassed Harper government suspended the handover policy. The policy was resumed in March 2008. The government stated that it was confident the abuses had ended. The Canadian Forces Military Police Commission is still investigating this situation. It's findings are due to be publicly released soon.
