amazing from the article in the first post
signed the letter without reading it carefully enough, without asking myself if some of the wording wouldn't exacerbate the situation rather than bring about constructive dialogue.
now Jane Fonda has never ever run away from a stance no matter what public opinion was in favour or against.
What happened here?

I think her very balanced statement - nothing as one-sided as the spin Gus Williams would inflict on it - reflects the Delaration's authors current attempts to counteract the smear job that tries to present the Declaration as a form of censorship, i.e. a boycott of Israeli cinematography.
Fonda writes: "...protesting the use of the festival to "rebrand" Israel was perhaps too easily misunderstood. It certainly has been wildly distorted. Contrary to the lies that have been circulated, the protest letter was not demonizing Israeli films and filmmakers. ..."

I have a question, this declaration accuses TIFF basically of colluding with those who originated the "Brand Israel" campaign. Yet Cameron Bailey and Piers Handling of TIFF have stated categorically that this is untrue. Are they lying? If so can anyone here prove it or is it just another baseless innuendo to target Israel? Look forward to responses.

Clearly, the Declaration does not accuse TIFF of "colluding" with anyone nor even of intentionally serving Brand Israel.

There is apparently some substance to that allegation, even though, as noted, the Declaration itself does not make the allegation.
