Documentaries on the Web

I thought it might be useful to have a forum for sharing good documentaries on the web (hence the title of the forum topic).  I'll start things off with a neat little documentary on the evolution of monotheism:

Rethinking Afghanistan by Glenn Greenwald can be viewed online. It's broken up into easily digestible segments.

I think I've posted this before:

A 50-minute BBC doc about the Magdalene Laundries, combining newsreel footage and interviews with four survivors. Very powerful.

Quote:
The War on Democracy is a documentary produced by journalist John Pilger "This film is about the struggle of people to free themselves from a modern form of slavery. Richard Nixon, president of the United States once said of Latin America 'People don't give a shit about the place.' He was wrong, the grand design of the United States as a modern empire was drawn on the hopes of an entire continent known contemptuously as 'the backyard'. The extraordinary witnesses in this film describe a world not as American Presidents like to see it, as useful or expendable. they describe the power of courage and humanity among people with next to nothing.

They reclaim noble words like: democracy, freedom, liberation, justice. And in doing so they are defending the most basic human rights of all of us, in a war being waged against all of us."

This is more of a youtube goodie, but it's a strong documentary:  Hoop Dreams, part 1.

We should add the free documentary films for download and/or viewing at the National Film Board of Canada.

There are 812 films in English so far.

Star Spangled C...

I was just gonna add a link to that before I saw your post, N.Beltov. The NFB has put basically all of their documentaries online for free viewing. It's a great site and definitely worth checking out when you've got several hours to spare.
