Hi all! I have some news...
As many of you know, I've started working as the In Cahoots Editor at rabble. When our previous In Cahoots Editor left, the job was posted internally, and I applied for it and got it, and I've really been enjoying it over the past few weeks. And I appreciate the support and good wishes babblers expressed when I got the job.
At the time that I got the job, I told the Kim (the publisher) that I wasn't sure that I could handle both the editor position and the moderator position, time-wise. And since I've been moderating on babble, in either a volunteer or paid capacity, since 2002, I decided that if the time comes to choose, I would move on from moderating and concentrate my energies on the editing position since it was a new challenge. Kim left this decision of whether to do both or just one of them entirely up to me.
And I've decided that the time has come...so, I'm leaving the moderating position at the end of January. As an unreformed and unrepentant babble addict, I'll still be around, although maybe not so much. (I should become a troll and make oldgoat ban me! Okay, maybe not.)
I want to thank all of you for being such a great community, and for all you've taught me, and the friendship you've offered me over the years. Sometimes it's hard to believe how much I've learned and experienced here since 2001. I fully expect that to continue, as I'll still be participating as a babbler. :)
I also want to thank all of the other mods I've worked with over the years for being so great to work with. And rabble, particularly Kim, for facilitating this change. It probably would have been easier for Kim to just give the editing job to someone else and not have to bother replacing a long-time moderator, but she was extremely supportive of me taking on this new position, and all the upheaval that went with it.
I'm looking forward to being a babbler next month! If anyone catches me moderating by accident (old habits die hard), just flag my post. ;)
