I'm a bit late reporting on this, but...
Attempt to shut down Montréal Gaza photo exhibit is defeated!
The CJPME (Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East) is hosting a photo exhibit about Gaza at the Cinéma du Parc in Montréal, scheduled to run from Jan. 15 to Feb. 28, 2010.
On Feb. 15, a lawyer represented Redbourne (the real estate firm which owns the shopping centre housing the Cinéma du Parc) wrote to the cinema threatening legal action if they didn't take down the exhibit by that evening - claiming that the lease required the property to be used only "for cinemagraphic use" [sic].
The cinema, which has hosted many progressive events in the past, stared down the threat, while allies mounted a mass email campaign addressed to Redbourne.
On Feb. 22, CJPME announced victory - the threat had been withdrawn!

By the way, here's a very moving video trailer for the exhibit, and here are the photos and texts that are being displayed.
People who support apartheid will pull out all the stops in order to silence their victims.
