I think Albertans are going to throw out the conservatives and elect conservatives next time. They'll show 'em.

Alberta opposition MLAs say it's time for the provincial government to consider fining people who don't vote.

NDP Leader Brian Mason and Liberal MLA Kevin Taft say a financial penalty -- which is law in Australia -- might boost Alberta's embarrassingly low election turnout.

Dude....just.....Dude!

Way to go after the lower-income vote there guys. I could see a tax credit or deduction if you have proof of voting as one option but a fine???!!

Sheesh. Expect to see this "corrected" in the next day or two.

Re the linked articles: Six one sentence paragraphs? Was there any discussion of PR, or a "NO to all candidates" option?

No idea. When I saw the article my eyes bugged out of my head and I thought "Wow, what a big Wildrose misstep". Then I saw who who said it and.....well......wow!

I think they have a deal with Greyhound Bus Lines to ship the unemployed cross country in search of the capitalist economic long run. It's an Orwellian system where the authorities pretend there are jobs but always in another province. And the unemployed often travel vast distances in search of the greener grass. It works well for the Dallas based company and supports their flexible labour market voodoo at the same time.

Ya, I know this to be true myself bagkitty..... :D

I hear from my family there "why should they vote all politicans are the same"....but less so these days actually, as Harper seems to be proving to them that  they might  perhaps be better off without him.

In fact,  something was also said that made my eyes big, which was; "if people were not so greedy communism would work", as they sit down in AZ for the winter.

Sorry...I wasn't really listening so I had to paraphrase. Did I get it right?

HA HA! Good one, HeywoodFloyd. I'm impressed.

How'm I doin' so far? Smile Could I fool 'em into thinkin' I'm from planet Oilberta if only for a minute or two?

Terrible. I only used words & phrases that you've used in your posts. I don't think I've ever used (except for in this post)"main colonial administrative duties" spigots "corporate America" "Uncle Sham" "whistlin Dixie" or "All'a".

I'll give you "socialist hordes" thought because I may have used it as a glib response somewhere here.

Fidel

Ya but I've never mentioned 9/11 gladios wrt Alberta or the Yanks siphoning off our effervescence  in Oilberta for a song and rare Gretzky trading card. I will try harder to encapsulate your Alberta-based babbler essence another time perhaps. I'm not with it today.
