This time it's pregnant women: Another US Atrocity in Afghanistan

http://www.counterpunch.org/lindorff03152010.html

"Another night time raid on a housing compound in Afghanistan. Another bunch of innocent AFghans killed. Another round of lies by the US-led forces of the so called International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Only this time, among the dead are two pregnant mothers and a teenage girl.

And once again the US media are mute.."

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – The Taliban on Sunday called their deadly bomb attacks on the southern city of Kandahar a warning to NATO's top general that the insurgents were ready for the war's next major offensive in their heartland.

The series of bombings that demolished buildings and killed dozens — including 10 people at a wedding — prompted the provincial governor to plead for more security in the area. Fearful residents said they had no confidence that either government or foreign troops can protect them.

Taliban kill some 30 Afghans last week. 20 the week before in kabul. NATO are dropping bombs wiping out villages or dropping into wild night time raids.

I wonder if the Afghans themselves will take arms against NATO and the Taliban, wouldn't blame them one bit

Just wanted to add a bit more.
I'm sure I will get jumped on for pointing out that the Taliban kill local afghans too, on purpose. Reading these posts there is a definate US & NATO are bad while ignoring cases of the Taliban killing "their own people". I just want to point out that the the Taliban are responsible for the deaths of Afghans just like all the examples of NATO doing shit.

You can argue who is worse who does more who does what. My point being the Taliban are no 'friend of the people' either which seems rather lost in these threads.

Place yourself in the shoes of most Afghans (remember empathy): Most Afghans are too poor to leave Afghanistan. It is only a matter time before the foreign troops leave Afghanistan. It is only a matter of time before the Karzai government is replaced by another. The Taliban are Afghans. When the foreign troops are gone and the Karzai regime is gone; there will be the Taliban.

Sure the foreign troops are bastards. Sure the ANA and ANP and the Karzai regime are bastards. Sure the Taliban are bastards. But the Taliban are OUR bastards. When the foreign troops are gone. When the Karzai regime is gone. The Afghan people will have to deal with the Taliban. The foreign troops are not Afghans. Although the Karzai regime are not foreigners, they are hated more than the foreigners because they have collaborated with them and are thus traitors. The Taliban are Afghans. They have the "home team" advantage that the foreigners will never have or be able to make up for.

That is why, even though the Taliban may kill (either unintentionally or intentionally) innocent Afghan civilians, they still get a certain amount of support from the Afghan people (irrespective).

That is why, no matter what we (the foreigners) do, because we are uninvited and unwanted guests (to put it most politely) in Afghanistan, we are fighting a lose/lose war.

Make sense?

Nope not really. Nearly 5 millions left the country during the Soviet Afghan war, nearly 3 million returned after the Taliban were removed from power. Most of these people returned after Karzai came into power.

Do you believe the Taliban do not intentionally mean to kill or wound over 50 people this weekend when 5 major explosions occurred in crowd areas of Kandahar City?
